I forgot to add that when IE stopped opening, it would run if I booted up in Safe mode.
Anyway, things are still fine using Avira instead of AVG, so .... fingers crossed ....0 -
My IE browser appears to over ride my Firefox.
I'd rather Firefox and am using Win 8.1 and everything is up to date.
When I uninstalled IE yesterday I couldn't browse anything on the net and FF wouldn't load either.
So I had to do a system restore but still can't use FF as my primary browser.
I've tried all the use FF as default browser options but no luck.
Any ideas to solve this
I really would rather use FF.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

Go to options, General and opposite Firefox is not your default browser click on Make default. You can't actually uninstall IE from Windows as it's integrated into the operating system so that could mess things up.
BTW it's always best to start your own thread as it makes it easier for others to follow troubleshooting when doing a search.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

But perhaps you didn't read the bit where I said 'I've tried all the use FF as default browser options but no luck.'
Anyway I'm gonna upgrade to Win 10.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
