Internet explorer on windows 7 laptop seems to have stopped working and I've just found out that support for IE have been dropped. I also use Mozilla - but what other browers would people recommend? Google chrome for example? Any answers please.

I have 4 browsers.
First choice is Google Chrome (this has ad-blocking and will not track purchases), then Opera which I don't have ad-blocking on and use it for tracking purchases on Quidco and Topcashback and I don't mind deleting all the cookies every now and again (which is a browser based on Chrome), Firefox (some sites work much better on Firefox) and if I really need to I'll use Internet Explorer (which is very rare...).:footie:

They have only dropped support for any version other than 11. Download the latest version or follow the Microsoft site for troubleshooting on what you do have.

If you receive an error can you post the full and exact message received here? I would suggest uninstalling the version you currently have before installing the new one if you're having issues. Always make sure you have a backup browser before doing this (download chrome/firefox).
If it's suggesting it's your PC won't allow IE11 to be installed, are your windows security patches up to date?Started 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0 -
Slimjet. It's a much better version of Chrome.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Are you running W7 32 bit or 64 bit? Which version of IE 11 are you trying to install? You could try to install IE9 or 10 and then upgrade from that.diamond_dave wrote: »Tried to download IE 11 but the site said that it couldnt be used on this laptop. No free lunch, and no free laptop

MS Edge is actually a very good browser - it dumped all the legacy nonsense that was making IE chunky and ugly.0

And why shouldn't he be? I am also on Windows 7 and internet explorer won't open for me today. Have spent 45 minutes on the phone to microsoft and they were unable to fix it. Tried installing explorer 11 and it says it can't install it as I have a newer version already installed.
I usually use Chrome but I need explorer for my First Direct banking plus programme. Have complained to FD plenty of times to get it working on Chrome or somewhere else but no luck.
Any suggestions to what I can try to get it working? The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.
