Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13

  • We have the same problem CCJ! We usually go long haul and book ages in advance, this year we haven’t gone as far and have only booked a few months before. Now we’re disappointed that we didn’t go somewhere we really wanted to see. OH is desperate to book a holiday for next year. We both have holidays booked at work and flights are really cheap at the moment but if I was to get pregnant this month I’d be 8 months gone by then! Even if I wasn’t that far along I wouldn’t want to fly long haul but if we leave it until the last minute flights are so expensive.
  • And to make it even more difficult most long haul destinations are out of the question because of zika!
  • Ano, it's so frustrating and I'm assuming insurance doesn't cover to cancel the holiday if you're pregnant?

I didn't know Zika was still an issue! I will have to look into that!

There’s a list of the countries still affected on this website, almost everywhere we want to go is on there.

It also says if there’s a moderate or high risk of zika you should not travel whilst pregnant and not become pregnant for 6 months afterwards if your partner is with you. Men carry the virus for up to 6 months, I think it’s only 6 weeks for women.

  • We are the same holiday wise CCJ and ginger. We want to go NYC at the very end of July four our wedding anniversary. We are saving for the holiday and then if we get to approx 5 months before and aren't pregnant yet I think we will book it. I don't mind going pregnant, but probably nothing more than 5 months. If we get pregnant and can't go then the money will be used for the baby.

My thermometer has been posted to hopefully it will arrive before the end of the week :)
  • Thanks ginger! Funny we were thinking of NYC around that time PKK! That's a good idea to just save like you're going anyway!

We booked mexico for the end of sept with TUI back in march & only realised afterwards that it still had zika, they said with a doctors note saying we were trying to conceive we could change the holiday free of charge, so we ended up going to Tenerife instead.
I was hoping I would be pregnant before the holiday but no luck yet! I will be annoyed if we don't end up pregnant in the next 6 months because we could of gone haha.

My parents have suggested a big family holiday in March next year but will be somewhere close by, so no fear of Zika. As for holidays next year we've just bought a caravan! so we will be having plenty of UK holidays.

    Hi all,

    Hope everyoneis doing ok.

CD31 for me - I'm normally 28/29 cycles so just waiting at the minute - though no signs of anything yet.

I agree with some of your OH comments, I had a really stressful time at work a couple of months ago and ended up 7 days late - OH was like, well maybe leave it another week or so and see!! ergh what? MEN!
