  • Hey all, I am back from my weekend away. I continued the OPKs whilst I was away and still haven't got a positive despite it now being CD19 on a 28 day cycle. I have caught a cold so not in the mood for BD anyway really but now I am a bit concerned I have a short Luteal Phase and thats why nothing is happening for us. The OPKs are getting darker but not dark enough. Might treat myself to some CB ones next month, I am not sure which is more accurate?

I used cheap ones but find the CB ones much better espcially the smiley face ones much easier to know for sure no smiley face no ovulation smiley face good to go. I found I get a postitive on the first day of ovulation when I test in the evening when I get in from work not in the morning

I got 20 tests plus the reader on amazon for about £28

  • I have never bothered with the cheapy OPK's as I can't be bothered with wondering if a line is darker/dark enough yet. I have always used the CB OPK's with the flashing and static smileys (on 4th cycle, will be the last cycle I use them!). Interestingly my doctor said that the official advice for TTC states not to use OPK's as they cause more stress and anxiety over what they read than needed and of course they are not 100% accurate anyway. I think this thread where we are all worrying and wondering over the results of OPK's does back that up. Although to be fair I do take them with a pinch of salt and remember it is easy to miss the hormone surge.
  • I think I may try the CB ones then. It is so hard to tell if its the right colour and then it starts fading so if I forget to check it, I miss it. I only do one a day too so I guess I could miss the surge. I'd rather have a nice simple smiley instead haha. So easy to then get carried away on google, I've convinced myself I have low progesterone now as well. think I need to stay off google looking up symptoms and chill for a bit and just let things happen.

BusyBargainz I have a short cycle too 26/27 days & i think i usually ovulate around CD16, I've been using the cheap opks too. I've just downloaded flo (Usually use ovia) and its saying I should be ovulating tomorrow where as ovia says Thursday.

I'f i'm not successful this cycle then I might invest in a CB kit just so I can figure out an exact date of ovulation or see if i'm in the right days.
  • Ive been bidding on a clear blue kit on eBay...I read on another forum that someone found Flo was way off with their times.
I may have done a frer when I got home from work which was negative. I felt sorry for myself so ate too many dark chocolate digestives and bid on the CB monitor lol.
Feeling much better now, I know it's early to test but I'm pretty sure this isn't my month unfort!

  • How long are your cycles CCJ? CD21 is very early to test, but obviously that depends on your cycle length!
