  • Still no AF. Saw GP today. Despite missing 2 AFS now, she doesn't want to do anything, not even a blood test, until I've missed six (that'll be december), almost a year after stopping pill). She suspects all the regular bleeds I had jan-may were still affected by pill and the likelihood is that my ovulation hasn't returned.

She also told me no forums or internet and no opks as they aren't worth the high of getting a positive reading then the low of not being pregnant.

Spent the whole day on the verge of crying. Another four months of this is going to be hell.
  • Sorry to hear that Trying, it!!!8217;s so hard isn!!!8217;t it.

I suspect I may be in the same situation with OV not returning after coming off the pill. Everything I!!!8217;ve read says to wait a year before seeing a GP which means I still have another 6 months to go before I can do anything about it.
  • I'm sorry to hear of that trying. Can you request a different doctor for a second opinion? It seems a bit harsh to have to wait that long without even a blood test. Have you tried conceive plus? I've read alot about it on other forums!

hmmm that doesn't sound like a very sympathetic GP trying!. When I was having my long cycle my GP said they would become concerned and look into it after 3 missed AF's (I was on the pill previously too). I would also recommend getting a second opinion. Maybe wait a couple of weeks until 3 missed AF's and then go back to see a different doctor. I would agree that OPK's are not helpful for you are the moment as the priority now is getting AF. Maybe look into some alternative remedies such as Supplements, acupuncture etc in the meanwhile?

    Massive hugs to you Trying!
  • Concieve plus would be helpful if I was ovulating but I'm not. I have used it and to be honest it feels nasty, not like normal lube at all!

In all fairness even if I got a second opinion, referral to a gynaecologist is currently standing at 25 weeks. With acupuncture at 50 a session too it looks like I will just have to wait it out.
  • If you can take anything from my rambling it'll be don't mess with anything. What will get you pregnant is the sperm meeting the egg and a big dollop of luck. Don't do what I've done and spend a fortune on supplements that haven't got you anywhere or on OPKs that make you stressed. If it's going to happen naturally, it will. For some of us, it'll be extra help that's needed.
  • Ah sorry I'm not 100% on the technicality of it all! A relative of mine was told she wouldn't be able to have children, gave up trying after 8 years and shortly after fell pregnant! I think stress can play a big part in it!
Are you trying for your first?

Is there anything that could be causing AF to be delayed Trying that maybe you could look at? Do you have any stress (I always eyeroll at this one but it seems to be the number 1 cause when you google it!)? Have you been ill? Are you taking any medications?

I agree it takes a big dollop of luck! Our one year off the pill is this month so I am hoping my GP refers us to fertility testing. I think extra help being needed is much more common than people say.
