just read a funny article in The Mirror about different ways people say about conceiving.
One was to eat Mcdonalds chips after BD.
I’m more than happy to try .

Went shopping yesterday to buy some booze for NYE and picked up some sanitary products for when AF decides to arrive. Left them all in the boot for when we got to MIL completely forgot they were in there. Anyway she saw them and knows I don't need them whilst on the pill since I don't get periods. Kept asking if I was off the pill! Had to lie and say no because we don't want anyone to know, mostly because all we will get is 'are you pregnant yet?'

Happy New Year, TTCers! Hope 2018 gives us what we all want :)

Gosh, Skimper, that's awkward! Do you think she believed you? I've only told my best friend IRL that we're trying. The pressure from other people knowing would be way too much! I think my mum suspects we're planning on it, though, as we just moved into our new house and we were talking about which bedroom would be the best nursery for the future.

I'm not sure. I ran off pretty quickly haha. I did spend today with her and she didn't mention it. We've always said after the wedding we will have kids that's no secret but it's different telling people we have taken steps towards that.

    Hi everyone -Happy New Year

I'm a lurker on this thread but we've finally decided to have number 3 and hopefully 4 in quick succession if we're lucky enough.

I'm having my mirena out next Monday after begging my Dr since September, she kept finding reasons not too. I've had it for 7.5 yrs so not feeling very confident of conceiving for a while

A quick question if any of you know - she said no 'practising' 5 days prior to the mirena being removed, I'm just wondering why?

Munchkin84 – oh the things we will do to get pregnant, if we have to eat McD chips after BD then who are we to dispute this clearly fool proof method? Haha

Skimper – oh that is awkward! If she mentions it again you could just say that you are having problems with your pill and started having a period so you thought it was best to have some in stock. Or you could say that you forgot to take it so have got to wait a cycle before you start taking it again. We are the same, we don’t want people to know as then anything you do people will speculate.

We got married earlier this year so people assume that TTC is the next step anyway. Having put on weight I have already been asked (not by close family or friends) and it is hurtful a) because my answer is no, I’m just fat and b) because I would like to be.

Wifeforlife- welcome! How exciting that you are ready for number 3! How old are you other two children? I don’t know much about the coil but just had a quick google and it seems they advise no BD for 5 days before as sperm can live for 5 days and you can become pregnant as soon as the coil is removed (dependant on when you have ovulated).

I am ready to start using the OPK’s tomorrow morning. I have realised that we are away for two days visiting OHs family so I won’t really be able to test on CD11 (don’t fancy POAS in the inlaws!), and CD12 I will have to test later in the day when we are home. I can’t see this being a big issue in terms of missing peak fertility as I think I am unlikely to have ovulated so early in my cycle. However, do you think this will cause any other issues? Maybe with having base data? It’s my first month using OPK’s (clearblue advanced) so I am unsure and want to get it right!
  • Hi everyone

    Happy New Year!

Myself and my husband have officially decided that we are going to start trying now, I have bought some ovaulation tests and have some vitamins too.

I have a horrible fear though that we will be trying for a long time.

I'm 32 (33 in April), healthily weight and generally healthy

Good luck to everyone let's hope 2018 is our year!

Thank you so much for a warm welcome - I'm still learning the lingo so I'll get some things wrong for a while. My kids are 14 and 8 so well up now, and that's the reason we're hoping for 2 very close together, however I'm 36 and realistic to how hard it can be to conceive never mind after long term contraception.

It's a bit weird that you remove the coil to conceive and then they tell you not to BD incase you may be successful :rotfl: I'll have a quick google and read up.
