Today I have sore nipples. Very tempting to be symptom spotting but at 5dpo realistically it's too early for implantation even if it does feel at bit early for pre menstrual symptoms.
I keep saying we're in no rush and it doesn't matter if it doesn't happen for a while but I am starting to realise a bfn would be disappointing. I feel like we timed BD well and itd be lovely to tell the parents over Christmas. Must be patient it's only the first cycle since withdrawal bleed!

    Hugs Dot :(

    Thanks for the welcomes

I've done a bought what I thought was a first response early result last night...it wasn't - double pack first response rapid result 😂 done one last night & 1 this morning...both negative.
I'm still holding out hope though...got a firdt response early result today so I'll test again first thing. I'm not due AF until Saturday but I ovulated really early...going by first positive.
  • Welcome Nancyo :) I am afraid I have no experience with the OPKs so can't help with that, but I hope it is a good sign as the others say!

Sorry to hear that AF is on the way Dot. The waiting and being unsure sucks doesn't it!

I am thinkkng I may try using OPK's as I am kinda impatient and well, I may as well give us the best chance? Which ones would everyone recommend? I don't know too much about them tbh.

Hey nancy :) hope your stay is short in the nicest way!

Lots of hugs your way pretty, dot and sloth.

AF finally gone but I just feel so deflated about this cycle now... I don't really know what to feel apart from wanting to give up really. But I cant because I want it more than anything. Bah.

  • Prettykittykat, I ordered cheap opk on eBay. It sounds like the flashing smiley clear blue ones might be better but more money. I figured I was just dipping my toe in so would rather go cheap. Had positives aroind the right time of month and negatives at others so they seem to work fine

  • Hi all
Thank you for all the hugs, I've been mopey today and totally fed up. I agree pretty, been late got my hopes up as it's so out of the norm for me to be, it's definitely made getting AF seem worse! Sorry you're feeling down Zeni, I'm not as far down the line as yourself but I can understand how you must be feeling, I think the time of year doesn't help... I know for me I desperately wanted to share some good news with family for Christmas, especially OHs side. His dad is still in hospital so a glimmer of something good would do wonders at the moment, but meh, it wasn't meant to be this month.

Pretty- just a warning OPKs send lots of people a bit crazy, it did me anyway! (I say this but I actually bought some today!) I started off with the cheapish ones (2.99 for 5 from home bargains) they are more like pregnancy test style rather than a flimsy bit of card! I never seemed to catch a positive with these so I then bought the digital clearblue. I used these for one cycle but they put the pressure on OH too much, I think partly because at the time he still was in the mindset of babymaking being easy! I didn't use anything this month which obviously didn't do the trick but it did make OH a lot more relaxed. I'm going to see if he wants to try the CB ones again this month and see what happens. It's the first month he's seemed genuinely sad that it's not happened for us this month so I'm hoping he will Be more motivated!

  • I'm currently using the clear blue OPKs but will probably get some cheapie ones when they run out - trying not to turn into a crazy stick lady, and worried it'll scare OH off too much if I mention it, so am using them more as a guide for now.

Are you using an app at all? I'm using glow and ovia and only used opk during estimated fertile window (I'm irregular so guessed). No point continuing testing once you get a positive. I bought like 30 for less than £4 I think. Opk only tells you when you are nearing end of fertile window. I reccomend using an app to help work this out

There's quite a few of you currently bummed about bfn/af. May I ask how long you have been trying and what you are currently doing to improve your chances? Just curious not offering advice I'm afraid!

  • Hi Selement. I use Ovia and Flo but prefer Ovia.
I came off my pill beginning of June and was tracking using the app but not been too obsessed about it until about Aug/sept when we started trying consciously in the fertile window. So for me I haven't been trying that long I guess I'm just impatient and had in my head that I would be by Christmas when I first stopped my pill which is going to be slim chances now.

I am taking folic acid most days (sometimes I forget) and I have the conceive plus lubricant and use the apps to help me pinpoint around the right days and will maybe give the clear blue tests a go again, I only used them for a month and I got a false static smiley quite early, so then when I got another 5days later and when I expected I would be according to the app (and double confirmed with a cheap test) it seemed to put too much pressure on OH to perform again so I think I wasted a month there really.

    I hope that helps x

I came off the pill in January, been using Ovia ever since and clear blue ov kit for the last two cycles. take folic acid and vitamin d pills most days when I remember.

I'm going to keep using the OV sticks this cycle but not going to involve OH with them as much as it seemed to stress him out last month.
