Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13

  • Hi all

I am still a bit down. Doesn't help that I should be on mat leave now :(

However, I am trying to throw myself into Christmas and do my best to enjoy seeing family and friends and having nice food and wine over the festive period

Although AF due Christmas Day so feeling very worried as to how I am going to feel/react. My counsellor says I plan too much and need to relax, however I know that every month on CD1 I am a wreck and so to not try and prepare for that and think about where I will be and who with is just bizarre to me. I don't want to ruin anyone's day. On the flip side, this could be our month so I get excited at the prospect of Santa bringing something wonderful our way ;). But I think it is ultimately that feeling that makes me worse...the setting myself up for a massive fall every month.
  • Aww Rachy. I can relate to everything you've said. I'm coming up to more anniversaries of this time last year. Friday was the day I booked in with the midwife.

I'm pretty much dreading Christmas in a way tbh. I was really not feeling it last year, was still bleeding quite heavily, trying to negotiate hospital appointments around the bank holidays but also trying to put on a brave face so I didn't have to explain to people what was going on.

I can understand wanting to be prepared though. I think it's common to feel like this when AF does or doesn't arrive because either situation can have a different impact on you. I'm trying to not think about it but have a niggling feeling in the back of my mind that I won't be that great. But in all honesty if I can go through what I did and behave like I did last year this year should be a damn sight easier.

It has been a bit quiet on here lately, I haven't had much to report really, I should be ovulating in about 7 days time so am going to try every other day and then as it gets closer to the weekend try every day until next Tuesday.

I'm with you on the planning Rachy - a lot of my friends are pregnant/have babies so there tends to be a lot of baby events, like baby showers, christenings etc and every time one comes up I always plan in my head if AF would be due that day. I have also tried to turn the upset I feel at AF arriving into excitement that in four weeks time it could be good news. Sometimes I feel a bit stupid getting excited but its better than feeling angry/sad xx
  • AF due to arrive today and feeling very crampy and emotional...made worse (if that's possible!) by losing a diamond stud earring on my way into work this morning. I hate losing presents. Then the receptionist in work showed me a present she'd bought for her newborn niece...queue uncontrolled tears.

Can't wait to 5.30 so I can go home a cuddle up with a hot water bottle and cry in peace! :o

  • Sending big hugs to everyone that needs them. It's not much fun this 'trying' lark.

Can I be updated to CD20 3 DPO please? Total stab in the dark. Haven't been doing OPKs and I cramped over a few days so no actual idea of when I OV'd. OH still not properly right but we did manage to dtd once on CD15 so you never know.

On a different note, I'm having that day where you write lists and realise you have a million things still to buy and prepare for xmas. I wish I was 5 again and my Mum did it all!

hi guys, hope everyone is doing ok. It always seems that there are babies everywhere when you are ttc. Hope christmas is kind to everyone, and maybe a couple of BFP's before then.... fingers crossed. I'm 'resting' lol, with OV due end of the month so nothing much to report :)

Oh yes, slight panic at my house this week and after a crazy few days, we're just about organised now, phew......

  • So I have finally (ok it hasn't taken that long but I started testing early and I am very impatient!) got what I think is a positive OPK...my understanding is that this means I will ov in the next 24ish hours? BD'd last night and hopefully tomorrow although we are out late at a Christmas do and will have work the next morning - so hard to fit everything in this time of year!

Hope everyone is well, baby dust to all x
  • Orange candle - I think that is the case with OPKs, the closer it is to the strength of the control line the more likely to be positive.. however this is only going from my own research as they didn't seem to work for me, unless my surge is just so quick that I missed it!

So CD29 today, so 'late' by my usual standard 27 day cycle but one day short of my one outlier 'longest' cycle of 30 days. I did a couple of internet cheapies this morning and I think I might have a TLP, not sure what to think. OH has gone to work earlier than me today so can't ask for a second opinion! Edited to add that I sort of *feel* AF is on her way though, am a little crampy.
