Ignore Qashqui owners who infer that anybody that offers a different opinion than the current fashion of "let's buy a small SUV mantra" is a dinosaur that lives in a pub.
The last time I was in a Pub for a drink was when I was in my 20's.
My remarks are based on the fact that whenever you get a thread like this you get the usual denigrating comments from people who have little experience of this type of vehicle and are just basing their comments on hearsay, I will be the first to say that this type of vehicle doesn't appeal to everybody, however, many of these vehicles are decent, sensible family cars. The OP is looking at getting a small SUV so let's keep it relevant. My thoughts on going for a Qashqai rather than a Juke was purely based on experience, I've owned a Qashqai and know people who have Jukes, the Juke is small inside hence why I threw the Qashqai into the mix, I have no experience of the other 2 cars so can't really comment, however I would think that the Dacia Duster would be similar in many respects to the Qashqai.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Did you even read my previous posts on this thread?
Or assume because I didn't agree with your post I was in the no SUV at any cost category?
Just to out things in context for you my Dads last car was a Qasqui, my sister inherited it, low miles, 59plate DCi, she kept it for about 6/7 months and got rid of it for a last of the old shape Zafira with the 1.7cdti lump in it.
I have mate that spend a fortune on a CR-V last of old shape with the 2.2 diesel lump (and no DPF I believe)
He sold it and we went to the auction and got him an Astra 1.6 estate in Design spec, 55 plate so had proper Recaro type seats in front unlike later Design spec Astras and Zafiras
Neither kisses their SUVs in any way.
If I want an SUV I will buy one. The wife likes the Captur and 500L, given the choice I would go Captur as the only petrol engine in the 500L is the 1.4 which is poor on fuel, so 0.9 petrol in a Captur it is.
I never diverted the thread, but as you can see from this post Inam more Han happy to do so.
People can voice an opinion that is contrary to the OPs if they think it helpful or relevant.0 -
Good find.
Handy for those wanting a Duster.
The Duster seems to sell in urban Ghana, they are rarer away from the Cities to be fair and more of an upmarket choice, often well specced up with Alloys and leather from what I have seen.
They are marketed as Renaults in Ghana.0 -

They're pointless, they're no good as a 4x4, they're top heavy and handle like a bag of spanners, they have little/no boot space and etc etc etc etc.
The lake district does have tarmac roads, I don't know if you realise this.
I did the peak district a few years ago in my Vectra on the way back from York, it was snowing.
I agree, and I d add that all 4 by 4s, SUVs are also pointless.Just bulky overwieght cars on stilts.I ve never had the need to go down a lane so rutted and bad that even my Vauxhall Corsa could nt do it and if for the one occasion in the year I met something too bad then I turn around and give up.OP is just another victim of a fashion status like tattoos two piece beards/tash, fake tan and skinny fit jeans etc in wanting something which OP thinks gives him an image of bear hunting at the weekends. They re pathetic0 -

You quoted me and I wasn't even responding to your comments, my initial post was based at the likes of Strider.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

I have. Mind you, I've also succesffully gone up rutted tracks fully laden in a sporty saloon, and it's pretty grim.
Just because you, personally, don't see the need for a 4x4 doesn't mean others don't have them. Compared to your Corsa, most 4x4's have more ground clearance, load capacity, towing capacity, better visibility and comfort.0 -

You don't see the connection between wether a vehicle will be robust and it being used in a place where the roads and driving conditions are much harsher?
Ever heard of using personal experince?
The Internet isn't just about trying to score points it's also about shared experiences.
If somebody searched this forum regarding a Dacia Duster they would come across this thread, they would then know that they are widely used around the world in much harsher conditions.
You didn't pick me up previously when I said there were lots of Dusters in Morocco!
So what's your problem with Ghana?0
