What's in your "family day out" bag .

Just thinking with the nice weather around the corner what do you pack in the day out bag. Mine is.
Change of clothes.
sun cream
plasters
change for parking and ice cream
bag for rubbish
bag for wet clothes.
Picnic :)
wet wipes
book
sunglasses
towel.

Anyone add to this would be great to see idea's.

Our children are grown up now but we still have a picnic basket which we put in the car for days out . We also take it if we are spending the night in a Travel Lodge type of hotel in case we decide to have a picnic style dinner or breakfast in the room.

These days it contains-mugs, plates, napkins, glasses, a corkscrew, plastic cutlery, a sharp knife and chopping board also sachets of sugar, coffee, salt , klippits, plastic bags and wet-wipes.

I always keep an emergency £10 in my car in case I run out of fuel somewhere and there's a problem with cards.

Oh I love having a picnic bag. There's only 2 of us, both adults (well we claim to be!), so we don't need kid or pet related extras.
    essentials are;
A large flask of boiling water to make any drinks / cup a soup we choose
    coffee/tea/milk powder/cup a soup
    emergency biscuits, individualy wrapped
    serated knife
    2 melamine plates
    2 spoons
    2 forks
    mini jam portion
a couple of sachets of tomato and brown sauce, salt & pepper (you never know when the opportunity of a tasty pie or something more healthy, might arise)
a clean sandwich bag for a million and one possible purposes
[STRIKE]two napkins[/STRIKE] two squares of kitchen roll
and then whatever food we choose to take that day.

As the above poster mentioned this bag is also very handy for a nice picnic tea if staying at a hotel. We have taken all sorts of lovely picnics for our own room service, most memorably when I took DH for a surprise birthday weekend. I bought his favourite but more expensive treat foods. We had a lovely seafood platter, posh bread, a salad with lots of ingredients and his favourite vegetable crisps, and 2 lovely individual dessert pots AND crackers and cheese.. And of course some chilled wine! :D
It cost quite a lot but nowhere near as much as buying even one dinner at the hotel that night. As you can tell I really enjoyed thinking of which things he would love and sorting it all out so it kept cool while we travelled, and could be presented nicely when I did the big reveal (I am still talking about the food :rotfl:).

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
