This trip is sort of a 'give TheWife™ the trip she'll love and then pay for everything within 6 months when I get back' type thing. It's worth it ;)

I do painting commissions on statues and stuff so I know how much I'll be able to clear off afterwards.

    Ouch

I can see a quite a few a lot of statue painting going on in Autumn 2016 :D

Well I've already got a waiting list of over a year, so I'm doing my best to save up in advance too lol.

oh, a horrible one, Nifty. Aqua. More out of necessity than anything. I don't have much choice with this. I don't really care what I spend on it while over there 'cause I'll be paying it off when I get back straight away with my commission earnings. My B'cards are at 6% apr after some haggling. I understand. So don't go crazy. :)

https://wilshiremotel.com/ in Santa Monica is one of the places at which we stopped along the way. I recommend it to you for price and convenience.

I've just read your thread with great interest. Glad you got booked for a price you were happy with. Just thought I'd mention, we flew Thomas Cook from Machester to New York last year, and the service was really good. Food was actually OK too! We booked the front row longer leg room seats on the way out, and did quite like them. Only 1 was classed as extra, as the window seat does get a bit of the bulkhead from the emergency exit, but it was a good footrest/extra table for me, husband had aisle seat for extra room.

When you come down the Pacifc Coast highway I can reccomend this place: http://www.ticklepinkinn.com/ though it was 8 years ago we did it for our honeymoon.

When we did east Coast last year, we used cards pretty much all the time, and ver little cash. So trying to get a good one really does help, we have a post Office card (fee free abroad) and were on the Travelex Card Trial, which was brilliant, as it took a good 2 weeks for all transactions to hit the card, meaning 6 weeks interest free!

Definitely check your insurance, I have tree insurance from Nationwide Flex, but it's only European, not worldwide.

Have a fab time, so envious of your trip!

Oak , Ash or Elm ?

This insurance can be upgraded to Worldwide but the fee is now £40 per couple IIRC
  • Thanks Michele! We did the PCH 8 years ago for our honeymoon too! Must have been the year for it, clearly lol. (we did east coast to west coast in a 32ft RV, then up the coast in a convertible mustang)

    Thanks for your recommendations!

Ooops! I meant Free.... not Birch, or Cedar! That's not too bad an upgrade fee, I pay £40 just for me to upgrade to Winter Sports for my European ski trip.

Nice, but rates from US$309 to US$589. :) For location and value , I would recommend Borg's Ocean Front Motel at Lover's Point.
We saw sea otters and sea lions cavorting a few metres from were we stood, just metres from the motel.
But no argument against Tickle Pink for your honeymoon.
