Help with flight costs to LA

  • Thanks for all your help everyone. I went with the Thomas Cook ones for £570 return for a mix of convenience (local airport, direct flight), packing more time into our destination in our limited travel window (not spending time flying to Oslo/Dublin first etc), and because they were cheaper than the average tickets everywhere else (on a sale).

Next time however when it's just a regular holiday and we're more flexible with dates etc I'll certainly be using some of your tips from this thread. Thank you so much for everything you've taught me, it'll certainly be useful in years to come!

Yeah I recently read about those esta things. I'll get on it!! I'm pretty sure we've got travel insurance from our bank account (yeah, we have one of those pay monthly accounts, but we actually use everything from it and it works out cheaper. Phone insurance, holiday insurance, car breakdown etc) but I'll certainly look into it and double check!

    Thanks!

have a quick shuftie to make sure that it covers worldwide (some don't).
The esta should be straightforward, but the sooner you do it, the better.

Payment cards(no exchange rate levy or ATM withdrawal fee) sorted? You haven't mentioned them.

Got one with no transaction fees while abroad, and then just two regular barclaycards as backups.

now head over to here and here
and let the fun commence :D
  • oh, a horrible one, Nifty. Aqua. More out of necessity than anything. I don't have much choice with this. I don't really care what I spend on it while over there 'cause I'll be paying it off when I get back straight away with my commission earnings. My B'cards are at 6% apr after some haggling. This trip is sort of a 'give TheWife™ the trip she'll love and then pay for everything within 6 months when I get back' type thing. It's worth it ;)

I do painting commissions on statues and stuff so I know how much I'll be able to clear off afterwards.

Thanks Murph! Funnily enough I just found one of those threads, so thanks for the other one. Lots of reading to be done
