Manchester airport

We are a family of 4 flying to Orlando in August.
We haven't flown from Manchester airport before.
We are going for 21 nights.
Should we drive up from s Wales on the day of departure and park?
Should we drive up the day before and stay in a nearby hotel? These all seem to be very expensive compared with Heathrow and gatwick.
All suggestions and tips gratefully received as my brain is now scrambled.

Play it safe. Night before.
Groupon have an airport parking deal.
I've seen good hotels on hotels.com for less than £40 within five miles of the airport.0 -
Agree with PeacefulWaters. Travel up the night before and make an early start to your holiday. A nice relaxing dinner, a glass of wine and a good nights sleep. Far better than potentially getting stuck in traffic the next morning and feeling rushed.
You may even be able to check in the night before depending on your airline but to be honest doing online checkin and bag drop the morning of your flight will probably be just as easy.0 -
We always drive to the airport the day before and go for a hotel with parking deal, yes it adds to the cost of the holiday but if I am to be stuck in a serious traffic jam, I'd rather it be the day before.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Using MSE's own link http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-airport-parking#holidayextras try one of the booking agents. I used Holiday Extras from that link and it gave a hotel for 4 (assuming 2 adults and 2 children) parking for the night before and a further 21 days, starting at £110. in August. Parking on it's own from £58.
You may well find cheaper.0 -
Or you can take the train, direct to the airport...Being brave is going after your dreams head on0

£50 for a Premier Inn somewhere near the airport is our usual practice.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

We always stay at the Premier Inn, Rutgers Lane. Nbooking well in advance you may get a £39 deal. We have had to pay as much as £85, though.
You say you're coming from Wales? But where? 45 mins from Deeside, when the road is quiet which doesn't happen often. 5 hours from Cardiff.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Premier Inn Cheadle Royal cost us £49 last year. 10 minute drive to airport, pub next door.0

I think OP said South Wales? but not where in South Wales, also what time is the flight to Orlando.
Its about a three hour plus drive, on a good day and you would go past one of the biggest motorway black spots in the country around Knutsford (M6)
Allow 3 hours to find car park, get to terminal, check in, security and that is with everything on your side.
Personally I would come within 15 miles of the Airport the night before and see what deals are to be hadPrivate Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA0 -
If costs allow it, stay at the Radisson Blu, lovely hotel, airport runway views and all mod cons, depending on how/who you park with you don't even have to step outside next morning all undercover to the terminals. If you drop your car at the meet and greet you stay undercover from there in.
Executive rooms offer free food and drinks in the lounge for a few hours as well ! But you looking at £120-£180 a night
For cheaper but close try the hotels on Rutger Lane as mentioned, 2 Premier Inns and a Holiday Inn Express, they all avg about £50 a night and only a 5 min drive.
Bear in mind both hotels charge to park even if staying, Radisson £15 a night !, others £5 a night0
