Hi guys and gals,
I'm a long time visitor, first time poster to the forums, and hope you all can offer some advice.
Shortly after Christmas, out of desperation I stupidly applied for a loan online, the loan application was turned down.
Now, when my wages were paid in February, a company called "ldc*credit-desk.co.uk" had helped themselves to £19.50 from my bank account. Guessing that loan I applied for was what automatically signed me up for them, I promptly contacted them and they cancelled and refunded the money. On my second wages in February, a new transaction appears for "mm*track-budget.co" for £19.45, and I ask for this to be cancelled also, but they would not refund me the money stating I agreed to their terms and conditions despite never visiting their website or never hearing of them.
Thinking that was sorted, March hits and a transaction was taken for £19.45 to "ce*budget-wise.co.uk", this being a brand new transaction. Now admittingly I didn't notice this due to be extremely busy last month, but the same company have taken the same amount again this morning as well.
I shall be phoning them when they open at 9am, but my question to you MSEers is do you know how to stop this magical roundabout, this game of cat-and-mouse? What I mean is if I cancel, how do I stop them siphoning funds next month under a new name?
Thanks

Are you sure this is related to your loan application? It sounds like to me you need to speak to your bank to get these transactions blocked. It's possible they have your card details and you will probably need a new debit card. As I say speak to your bank.0

I've had the same problem. Just noticed a payment of 15p from my bank to these guys.
Basically you must have signed up to search for a loan and it has asked to authorise your bank account, somewhere on that page it has offered you a free trial to the "budget wise" online service. Easily missed ... sly!
I went to budget-wise.co.uk website and to the login page. Obviously I don't have a login for this as didn't "actually" sign up - so I clicked 'forgotten password' and put in my email address. Surprise surprise! I received my password in seconds.
Logged in, went to "my profile" and then at the bottom it says "cancel subscription". Fortunately I should still be within the 7 day trial period so do not expect to be charged moving forward so I got lucky I noticed it.
Surely this company shouldn't be able to do this on the sly and start fleecing people of money!0 -
Thankyou yelza83 I have just had this problem an before they could take money out I managed to cancel subscription! Absolute disgrace that they can get away with it!
Also watch out for creditstep.co.uk u go onto the website as u have been redirected an think ur going to get the loan it asks u to tick a box of u want ur credit file aswell for £59.80 I didn't tick it and procedured with my application to then find they took it out anyway! Wen I rang they would only give me £30 back!0 -
I have just had £50 taken from my account. One from budgetwise and one from extracashboost.co.uk
I have cancelled my debit card. Should this prevent further payments being taken from other random companies? I didnt realise I had signed up for anything.... Is there any way I can get this money back????
Thanks in advance...........0 -
It won't stop anything you've already authorised.0

Changing debit cards will not necessarily stop the payments.
Why are you all providing your debit card details?
To pay money out you give your debit card details.
To have money paid in you provide your sort code and account number.
Don't put debit card details into any websites you have not checked and know to be trustworthy. This should avoid unknown transactions appearing on your bank statements week/months later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
