Not very MSE today as I am heading to London to have Laser eye surgery!

I'm really excited but getting a tad nervous too. Has anyone has it done recently?

Not recently but I had it done 7 years ago best thing I ever did? Only thing I would say if they tell you to go home and lie down don't cos it feels like you are drowning .I just sat in the reclining chair and went to sleep when I woke up the next morning I had 20/20 vision. I've had no problems since. Good luck

Regarding the VAT he never wants to pay more than £xxxx per quarter so i have to manipulate the figures accordingly. I dont really have an issue with it as its his business.

But Rose if you are employed as his book keeper then surely it should be your issue....I get the feeling that should anyone investigate this further then he wouldn't think twice about claiming it was an area he left with you to deal with.

His personal wealth or cars held within the family are his own business though and sorry I think you shouldn't really make reference to them now when your original query was over whether you should have received your salary from last month by now.

It feels a little like we are now able to dissect this guys business on a public forum and I do wonder about the amount of information that has perhaps already been shared...sorry

At the end of the day its your call...you need to decide if this company is where you want to continue to work....you haven't been happy there for some time the fact that your employer is now choosing to pay you late should be helping you to make your mind up as to if it is financially viable or indeed practical to stay with the company
Wish you luck whatever you decide

Rose, it all seems most dubious to me, especially regarding the VAT.

I also think there's been too much information, given that this is a public forum, which is why I haven't quoted any posts concerning the matter.

I do wish you well re your wages and hope you can get that sorted out asap. x

Memories for a few of us Oldies:-

Mum cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, We sat down together at the dining room table, & if I didn't like what she put on my plate, I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.

Some parents NEVER owned their own house, wore Levis , set foot on a golf course, travelled out of the country or had a credit card.

My parents never drove me to school. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow).

We didn't have a television in our house until I was 10. It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at 11, after playing the national anthem

I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line.

Pizzas were not delivered to our home, but milk was & so was bread.

All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers -- my brother delivered a newspaper, six days a week. He had to get up at 5 AM every morning.

Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies! There were no movie ratings because all movies were responsibly produced for everyone to enjoy viewing, without profanity or violence or most anything offensive.

    Do you remember:-
    1. Sweet cigarettes
2 Using hand signals for cars without turn signals
    3. Home milk delivery in glass bottles
    4. Party lines on the telephones
    5. Newsreels before the movie
    6. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning. (there were only 3 channels!! [ if you were fortunate])
    7. Pea shooters
8 Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner
    9 . 45 RPM records
    10. 78 rpm records
    11. Hi-fi records 33 1/3 rpm
    12. Metal ice trays with lever
    13. Blue flashbulbs
    14. Cork popguns
    15. Using hand signals for cars without turn signals
    16. Wash tub wringers

We might be old but those memories are some of the best parts of our lives….

Unfortunately I remember all of these. Thinking back we were extremely happy with very little😀😀

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)
