I burned most bank statement 24 hrs before I found out in MSE about PPI.Is there a way obtaining a statement for that long ago?
Not if you've burned your own archive. The Bank have already said they no longer have records. Sorry.

I provided bank statements showing loan protection on an old Hsbc account, they wrote back saying I didn't have ppi, they have no records as go back to 1998 to 2002/3! I don't understand as I have the proof?

How do the Bank Statements show that you paid PPI exactly?

Hi, it says personal loan amount £9280.00 paid in, loan protection £1483.80 paid out.

Are the Bank saying you subsequently cancelled the insurance? Or are they simply saying they have no records?

If the latter, get back to them and query why they have seemingly ignored your evidence..

Thank you for responding, they said they carried out extensive search etc said insufficient evidence to confirm ppi was attached to statements. They were several loans, all on statements showing loan protection. I did also, give 2 sheets about managed loans in the latter years, which, I understand doesn't include Ppi!

Sorry, posted early, they want documentation confirming ppi held and accompanying statements confirming payments made! The letter itself is a bit of a contradiction, can't find records, provide stmts, can't take further action, so confusing!

it is quite probable that they do not have the information as it was so long ago. However, they are required to use any information you can supply them. So, given them a copy.

I did provide the statements showing the loan amount, loan protection and the statement showing the monthly amount paid to the personal loan the following month, until the next p/loan. Looks as though, they eventually gave us a managed loan in latter years!

Is this an Agreement rather than a statement? Unfortunately, Agreements don't prove that you actually paid PPI because you could have subsequently cancelled the insurance. Sounds like they want/need extensive evidence of your payments..
