No, they obviously have YOUR information.Well they found one of my loans taken out in 1998 so they obviously do have the information there.!
Financial record keeping in the past was a haphazard affair. Some records that should have been kept were destroyed and others which should have been pulped still exist. In addition, data protection guidelines nowadays advise destruction after six years for closed accounts.
Only the Bank can say whether there are records still available and in some cases only a SAR will turn these up.0 -

Changes nothing though.
Have you sent a Subject Access Request to the banks concerned yet?0 -

No, not yet. And, not actually sure I will... Question - will a SAR be complicated by TSB becoming LLoyds TSB within the period of the loans. I only ever had one sort code and account number throughout my time with them!0 -
The only problem is the age of the finance. If you no longer have an account with them then the chances of there still being records are significantly reduced.jellybaby1968 wrote: »will a SAR be complicated by TSB becoming LLoyds TSB within the period of the loans. You'll have to gamble £10 to find out….0 -
I thought I'd take the time update this thread... I hope by doing so it gives others encouragement to pursue their complaints, and I'd strongly urge people to risk £10 and submit a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR).
Things were far from being dead in the water or flogging a dead horse... My determination and tenacity has resulted in me receiving a few thousand pounds!
It started when I submitted a Data Subject Access Request to Lloyds Bank and received a huge pile of papers. These included information on credit cards I'd completely forgotten about, and most importantly copy bank statements showing my loan repayments. The next step was completing the PPI complaint forms and sending them off with copies of all the relevant evidence. Admittedly that step wasn't fun, and was quite time-consuming, but less than six weeks later my complaints have been upheld and my cheques have arrived.
My Lloyds paperwork also provided account numbers for some products I had with Egg Banking Plc. As a consequence of that, I have just submitted a DSAR to them. We'll see where that leads...0 -
Well done you! Please can you tell me how far back the copy bank statements you received ran? My query is relevant to old personal loans with TSB and just received a request for £10 DSAR charge today. Unsure whether to proceed as the timing for loans was definitely early 1990's and was unsure if this 'era' would show on the report. Thank you!0

However you should note that what a bank has for one person has no bearing on what they have for you, depending on when you closed the account will define how likely they still have stuff on youSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I had an overdraft with Lloyds in early 90's. I claimed PPI, they paid me a sum. Then I found the original letter from the bank stating that PPI was a condition for the facility. I found statements from 1994, they agree to pay again. The letter from the bank manager is dated 09/1991 but since I only have statements since May 1994 they tell me that they are not sure I was paying for PPI since 1991 so they will not consider it unless I produce bank statements from 1991.
And to rub salt to injury, I burned most bank statement 24 hrs before I found out in MSE about PPI.Is there a way obtaining a statement for that long ago?0
