I could have sorted it out a couple of weeks ago. I went into the branch and was told that it would take 20 minutes to sort it out and there was only one other customer in the branch at that time. I didn't know how long the other customer was going to take and didn't have that long so declined.

I'm not currently working so I will probably go into the branch 'off peak' to see if they can help me. If not then I won't bother. They may well open it up to online applications in the near future (being as it's an online only account).

I expect it will, I'm surprised it hasn't already. When I opened mine in branch on 18 March, the guy I saw said that it would be available to open online within a couple of weeks. He thought there was an IT issue to be sorted out,

Were you not given a 'ring back' option whilst holding? It lets you hold your place in the queue, whilst you hang up the phone and go and do something else for the 25 or whatever minutes until they ring you back.
There was no ring back option when I called. The music on hold had huge periods of total silence such that I thought the call had been cut off - until the "We are sorry..." message returned.

Total call length just short of 30 minutes, of which half was wait time and half was reading out the terms and conditions. I was asked several times if I still wanted to proceed.

The sooner they get this online the better.

Tried dead on 8am today ...got thru to an advisor @ 8:16 - account set up by 8:32am:j
Only attempt to sell me anything was he "noticed" I didn't have a 123 cashback credit card -but when I told him that I had another bank's cashback card he gave up gracefully.

...but all the info. he wanted ! All of it is already in their records because I have 2 *123 accounts with them!!!(one sole and one joint)

So how much is this regular saver actually worth if you're drip feeding? £25? If I have to wait ages on the phone or actually go into the branch then I don't think I will bother with this one. Maybe they will setup online applications at later date?

I just open it today by calling 0800 032 4604.
Ten minutes to wait on the queue, 15 minutes to complete all of the required information. Account is open, documentation is on the way … ..

Just had the same hold time and completion time.

Do they ask any questions about income? I'm asking because I'm not currently working and fear that they might pull the plug on my credit card if they know. I'm not a credit risk as I've got a fair bit of cash but I'm slightly concerned that 'computer says no'. I've got several grand at 0% until the end of the year and it'd be a shame to lose it for the sake of a regular saver.

I opened my Santander RS in branch and wasn't asked any questions about income. If you phone to open it and they happen to ask you about income (which I doubt) just say that there is a home emergency (eg kitchen on fire) and end the call.
