Thanks Ally, I used a couple of the freebie links :money:
Foxgloves, sorry about the car  how frustrating. I note for future reference for me your responsible response though - mine usually is to sit in a corner and feel nervous and scared. Cant wait to have a emergency fund to be a buffer.
In other news.... I HAVE ENTERED THE LOFT.
I bought down most of the fabric items - clothes, fancy dress, bedding, towels (but not duvets or curtains) and am going to try the KonMarie approach on them all. At the moment they are currently all over my hallway and DD's bedroom. I have no intention of hefting the sacks up into the loft again, so will have to sort them out over the next 48 hours

Thanks for sympathy regarding car. I cheered up a bit with my gardening afternoon. In addition to potting up lettuce babies, I also weeded & dug over a raised bed ready for my broad beans & planted up 3 old terracotta pots with free plants that had self-seeded into the gravel....forgetmenots, a primrose, an aquilegia, golden feverfew & wild violets. Used home made compost too, so zero cost (my best kind!) Mr f has cooked a nice meal & we're going to start watching 'Follow the money'. If I'm concentrating on subtitles, I shan't be as likely to use brain space fretting about humungous car bills.
Oh.....& I've switched off the heating today. I'm not minded to pay for heating in April. We can stick with wearing an extra layer!

Ziggy Hugs. I care for my son who has both physical and mental health problems and the emotional drain can be huge, never mind the practical problems. We find that doctors are much more interested in dealing with his physical health problems than his emotional problems so that is a familiar problem. I have a lot of sympathy.
And Foxgloves mmm, car trouble. We are having "funny noise" problems with DHs van. I cannot contemplate the thought of it being terminal.
DH has rung up to cancel Sky today. I know its expensive but Sky TV is DH's one luxury, he never goes out and only buys clothes or gadgets if he gets Christmas or Birthday money. He has now decided that he can live without it though. This will save us a shocking £50 a month!
Quiet day at home tomorrow, have to take DS2 to work and pick him up. Might get the bike out if the weather is decent.0 -
Hi Gang
So far since coming away for the weekend the only money we have spent is the £12 to get into the swimming centre yesterday. We have had some lovely time in the fresh air and everyone seemed to sleep really well last night plus DD did amazing daytime naps yesterday. It must be true about the London air quality.
We will be getting the train back late afternoon so planning another walk and roast dinner later before we do.
Thinking of you Ziggy
Yorkshire well done on your household saving another £50 a month that's great news. I second LegoMums Netflix comment it's brilliant. For £6 a month I wouldn't be without it now.

Hi April Awesome-ees,
Just popping in. Not going to do anything until tonight other than rest and take delivery of new washing machine sometime between 11.00 and 12.30. Really hoping there'll be no dramas with that. Should be simple shouldn't it? AO.com men* arrive, deliver new machine, plumb in new machine (OH won't let me do it on account of my 'war wound'), take away old machine, leave. Can't go wrong can it?! I am enthusiastically watching the delivery route on the online tracker for free entertainment. Need to get a smurfin' life! [STRIKE]11[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]10[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]9[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]8[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]7[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]6[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]3[/STRIKE] 2 deliveries before ours.
Reflecting on this we have totally changed our attitude to spending. We now try not to borrow unless the debt can be repaid in a fortnight, and is therefore interest free and we try to choose our purchases wisely: look for cheap, but also of good quality, and haggle like mad.
I'll do some money-saving life admin later. Might try to write a list before then.
What you all planning?

Morning all :hello:
Thinking of you Ziggy, and Ally - I hope that washing machine installation is completely uneventful for you.
I'm in 'feeling sorry for myself' mode. Various reasons but it's basically to do with my being a brat and wanting my own way all of the time and then huffing when I don't get it. Meh. DH is definitely on the downward spiral again - which is mighty scary at the moment. Thankfully he has a doctor's appointment tomorrow.
Anyway. Not sure what today will bring, but some plans don't change.
:undecided check banking and PAD
:undecided tutoring
:undecided no housework other than empty recycling
:undecided maybe do this schoolwork that I've been putting off
:undecided first night out for over 6 months with bestie tonight hoping for low spend as I don't drink any more.
:undecided get 7000 steps on Fitbit so I can get my Bounts
:undecided get this mermaid tail finished
:undecided try not to stress if possible (maybe not possible today)
I notice it's still grey and utterly miserable outside so that never helps the mood, but on the positive side I still have another week off work. :j Have a good day everyone. Not giving up

Morning all :hello: thanks for the links Ally, will look at them shortly, particularly Kung fu panda
Had a lovely family day yesterday, with some extended family over in the evening. Made a last minute curry instead of takeaway, just bought poppadoms, mango chutney and yogurt so very MSE compared to a takeaway. Today will be:
Check surveys and FPL
Some decorating/ house stuff
Small shop at ald! Should so us for the week
Food from stores for family, I'm having a cleanse couple of days so limited food for me
One load of washing on line, another in machine. Sun already shining although line wet when I hung first load out
Run for free exercise
Hoping cars behave themselves today for everyone, DH cost us £200 to get through mot last week, could have been worse they originally quoted £450 max. But still  even when you have it saved I still don't like parting with it. Better than the old us that would have just had to stick it on the credit card though
Thinks that's about all. Have a great day everyone

Well, didn't really get round to listing the ebay and gumtree items and my bottle of wine also extended to some nibbles/pizza yesterday. Yes, naughty I know esp as the fridge is stocked but it was too tempting. Having said that I feel like I haven't bought anything in a while so not going to beat myself up too much about it. I find that if I deprive myself too much I tend to burst and go on a splurge if that makes sense.;)
So back to debt-busting. I actually made a budget yesterday for April and I feel so much better. I know exactly how much I have left over and the best bit is that I have started planning for a tax payment due in July. Divided the sum I owed by 4 and that will be saved each month as I get paid.
Heading to work in a bit. So food from home and hopefully another NS day - back to the straight and narrow.
Hope everyone has a lovely day - the sun is shining here but won't get to see much of it lol as don't finish work until 9 tonight.
Apologies for the long post but find it quite cathartic talking about it and I don't really talk to anyone about my debt in the "real world".

:)
Long post?! Don't be silly - I wonder what you think of some of mine! :rotfl:
Yes, definitely cathartic - not good to hold things in. I'm the same - hardly anyone in RL knows about our debt so it's good here for that.

So decision time. Having spent all day in bed yesterday resting what should I do today.
All quiet in the shed.
Shall I knit, bake and use up the eggs? Go out shopping as i need safety pins? I do not want to get over tired but am sick if lying in bed on the weekends. I bet safety pins will come with other stuff!!!!
Better stay at home , bake a few sponges and knit with Jane Austin .
Thanks for the advice all.
