With my clothing that is hand wash only or dry clean only, I put them in the wash on a low heat and it's turned out fine. I think some manufacturers just say dry clean only just to cover themselves.
I have a silk/delicate programme on my washing machine and I use that for any hand-wash or dry-clean-only items.
And a wool programme.
I've had very few 'accidents' over the years.
I think a lot of expensive items say 'hand wash' - I have a Phase Eight jumper (not even wool) that says hand wash and a Whistles dress that says dry clean only.
Not likely when I have a perfectly good washing machine.fierystormcloud wrote: »I have never in my life, come across one single person who doesn't ever use an item because it won't go in the dishwasher. And doesn't wear an item because it doesn't go in the washing machine.

I think it depends on what they are. A biscuit turning soggy with tea is fine. I agree with Izadora about roast potatoes and gravy though, the two should never meet. That's what mashed potato is for, to build a barrier between them.
BIB...that is the worse thing ever! I absolutely detest soggy biscuits. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Well you have now.

Did I say it was wrong?
No.
Don't put words in my mouth.
I just find it unfathomable and bizarre that anyone would not use an item at all, because they can't wash it in a machine!
I am quite entitled to think this you know.cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -

One of our local chip shops has proper butcher sausages as an option, all locally sourced (from our posh sausage shop), can't say what they taste like as their fish is absolutely gorgeous and so far that is the only thing I have had from there. We made it! As for two course vs. three, there are hardly any places I've been to where I would be able to manage three courses - and I don't think this is unusual.
Depending on the menu I'd either go for a starter and a main, or a main and a pud. But often just one main is plenty for me. I might also choose to share a starter with somebody else if there was something I fancied trying but didn't want much. Some places offer those "sharing platters" as a starter and sometimes I'll choose one of those for myself as a main meal.0 -
What would happen if you put something in the dish washer that is not suitable for dish washer? I know plastic would melt but doesn't a dish washer just splash hot water with the tablet about? hehe you can see I've clearly never owned one.

I've never had plastics melt
However wood will warp and split eventually. Fine crystal can cloud and even scratch. I've a fine porcelain dinner/tea service with silver trim which can't do in as the silver will eventually wear off and we have some bone handled knives that were granny's that can't go in as the handle is glued and the heat of the dishwasher will erode the glue
The dishwasher washes at much higher temps then your hands can bare0 -

I agree with washing, I don't handwash and I don't buy things that need dry cleaning, well I have got a coat that is dry clean only but rarely wear it and so don't need to get it cleaned very often. I am totally different with dishes, I don't have a dishwasher, I did have one but when we had the kitchen redone I didn't get another one. When the kids were growing up I always did a sinkful of washing up while listening to the Archers, it was my 15 minutes of sanity time between afterschool activities/homework/dinner and the chaos of baths and bed. I still wash up listening to the Archers :rotfl:Sell £1500

The best chippy around here which just one best in Britain I think, also does real sausages but we only do the 30 mile round trip for the fish. Straight off their own boat to the chippy
And once again the portion is so huge we share0 -
