    Morning frugal pal.

Nice to see a liitle money in food pot with 3 days until payday still :T

Build definitely seen what feels like big progress has been made this week as they have knocked though  big mess, obviously :rotfl: but big gains :D

Banking looking Like there will be funds left at month end :T separating out food spends in the last 3 months has made such a difference and I can't really see why. We're not particularly spending anymore or any less on food but it seems to make managing the budget so much easier. Anyway, it's working for us so we shall continue.

Spare cash on Thursday will go to savings :T high interest savings account matures next week which will be a nice little extra earning for savings too. I read somewhere that some banks have closed theirs so will have to see if one is available to go again.

Sounding good PF. Like that the running is going well and that there is money left at the end of the month in any pots....well done on your frugal ways xx
  • Hmm, been somewhat awol. Rather a lot going on in RL, including something that is difficult and causing some rethinking of things in the short term. However, am determined amongst that to press on and get extension finished and start OP this mortgage. The last couple have weeks have given me lots of time to read some diaries on here, particularly MF ones and I've taken so much inspiration from them.

Today, I have rounded both parts of our mortgage down to the nearest £5. Ok, so it's only a small amount but very satisfying :rotfl:

I've also paid the builder for another chunky bit of the build. Hopefully the last but 1 big bill

We are progressing nicely and are close to wrapping some elements up, albeit there will be some more to start once the big area is complete. However, once the three new areas are finished I can live with the fourth being in disarray as well have the extra space :T

Spends generally this month are low due to not being able to spend :rotfl: but fridge will need stocking at some point in the next couple of days but this month is DH on his new hours so I'm mindful not to go wild until I know exactly what that will be.

Have had £50 cash for a referral for something and am due a small amount from an insurance payout tomorrow. These will both go to savings.

No running at the moment ( as I am not able) but am hoping to swim/sauna this week in lieu of.
  • Hope all is ok PF - pleased that you're motivated into tackling things head on. I'm joining you in having had a bit of a 'challenging' RL experience at the moment...

Really appreciate you popping by cat particularly as you have so much going on in your life at the moment. Let's nail this challenging RL thing together shall we? 6 months did your solicitor say? Let's do it :D
  • £30 vouchers for using my just for points CC showed up :D pleased with that. Even more pleased I was on the ball as cc is DH name and he opened letter, took it out and gave DD £5 voucher. I didn't realise what it was at first, good job I read letter - £25 voucher was still in envelope

Got lots of food in weekly food shop (it's been 2 weeks) for £63 including some beer for DH so all good there. Meal plan for next week in tact too.

Next weeks plan is to declutter big time when smalls back at school. Used 3 craft kits today :T

Using annual membership for second time this week tomorrow and taking a packed lunch :)

Hey PF, I hope you're all well and that the building work is coming along nicely.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Aah, thanks for stopping by 1LuckyLady. Build is going well thank you. On to final stages of fit out, hoping in 2 weeks we’ll have a much better idea of end date. But it does mean much ordering of things to be fitted and decisions making on things. Will definitely all be worth it though.

Still something in RL that is taking most of my time and energy meaning so many things are on the back burner. Still keeping the DFW faith and focusing on keeping spends to a minimum and paying down debt and increasing savings.

Need to get last few Christmas gifts and write some cards. May go up in the loft today and get my big winter coat and the Christmas cards down. I can then sit and write them when I have some time and energy.

Can’t really get ahead with festive shopping as we have no storage until extension is fitted out but will start to build a list so I can jump in to action when it’s time!

Still no running here, but trying to walk every day and keep my step count to a reasonable level.

Food spends remain under control, we’ve changed our diet considerably in the last few weeks which I think long term will be cheaper. Just need to expand my food range in this new area. Got a great book out of the library to help, although last nights offering was not to my taste but DH wolfed it down. All other meals have been really good. Reminds me, must do a meal plan for next week and see what/when I need to shop.

Have been inundated with vouchers from various SM so need to see which is giving the best discount for what we need.

Sorry RL is proving tough PF. Thinking of you.

So pleased your build is progressing well AND you’re inspired by some MF threads. This place is amazing. I think my lucky stars every week that I found this site ...

Sorry to read that things in RL are being difficult, Purple Fairy. You are sounding very organised, nevertheless x
