Sorry for being awol. Thanks for popping by OF - great to see your deposit coming along nicely.

Lots going on here,we've been away for a fab and much overdue break. It was paid for long ago, we came back with money which went straight in to the pot and no spend on cc. So all good there. Can't help but be a little sad at just how expensive these things are, that it will be sometime before we do it again.

The builder still hasn't come back to me, he has however me promised next week. I'll believe it when I see it :p

Disappointing news on the mortgage, we can either get a really low deal on X amount or borrow a ridiculously huge amount which we don't need. Why disappointing, well the second option is only available on another property and we don't want to move. They won't do anything in the middle and can't really explain themselves which I find odd. Boo. So more decisions to be made, do we commit to part one and aim to do a plan b with someone else, or just do the whole lot with someone else.

On a better note, rest of debt is being hit hard. Really pleased with way it's coming down and have a target for a sum next month which would make me really really chuffed. We'll see. Will try and be back posting. It really helps. PF.

Hi PurpleFairy that is really bizzare regarding your mortgage deal, sounds very complicated, hopefully the broker i recomended can help!

When you mention the builder - is that you still waiting for a quote? Everything seems to take so loooonngg... We asked someone we know for a quote awhile back and they still not got back to us either boo :(

One thought if you do borrow a ridiculous amount could you stick in in an offset mortgage and therefore wont pay any interest on it and once everything is build remortgage and put the money back in? It might be a solution.. I found a handy offset mortgage calculator here:

    http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-2034571/Offset-mortgage-calculator.html

THe only thing is you have to be very disciplined not to spend it. But I will be using this calculator myself before making any withdrawal which I think will motivate me to keep the money IN :money:

Well, it's been a few days since my update. I **think** we may have found a suitable mortgage, just need to call and apply. The good news is that although our current deal has ended, the payments have only changed marginally due to the similarity in rate. So this needs to go on the investigation list.

Brizzle thanks for popping by. Loving the updates on your thread. I find it very motivating, off shortly to see if y have had any news on the lodger.

I've a few things to sort here in no particular order (and not all mfw related so forgive me :o) :

Have done a bodge job on 2 leaks under sink, need to buy a part. Should be cheap though c£5
Set myself a fitness target for the next 6 weeks or so
Buy myself another pair of running tights - have voucher so no outlay
Write up activities on calendar for next couple of months - find being organised saves money
Must write FD card and take tomorrow
List some things on fleabay - have a bag to go
Sort 3 big bags for charity shop (and remove stuff that needs to be recycled ) and take rest
Try and find a local sower to make some curtains for me
Plan some meals - need to really get my head round loosing a few pounds

On house news builder text me last night to say I would have quote by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.

Some other stuff going on recently which has delayed some progress on decorating, hoping door frame might be finished in the next week or so. On a +ve hubby being doing some overtime. Will be a nice addition to next pay check.

On debt busting news, made another pad today and updated my spreadsheet for both this year and next ;) with some aggressive paying and then saving to keep my feet to the fire.

Right off to catch up on some other diaries.

Ok, so the quote is in  gulp.

It's more than we want to pay (who doesn't) - but there are some 'luxuries' in there such as landscaping, which we will do, but not all in one go. Need to spend some time with DH deciding next steps. I've a view, but will obviously need to be a joint decision.

    In other news:

I've made tomorrow's and Tuesday breakfast and lunch already :D
The amount we've paid off our debt this year is more now than we paid in the whole of last year  just thinking it could almost be gone if we hadn't been faffing last year. Oh well, can't dwell on the past. At least we're all over it now.
Cashed in another £10 surveys for a voucher :) had £75 so far this year and DH nearing a 1poll payout too :j glad I've finally managed to work out the ones that 'like' me
Managed to reduce my washing mountain to nothing including 2 winter coats and the back door mat :D only 3 things slightly damp when it started raining. Very happy with that.
Finally unpacked my replacement bread maker that was a bday gift. Cooked marmalade cake in it **step away from the cake tin fairy :o** safe to say that's going on the list to make again ;)
Did some de cluttering, may see if I can do some flea baying tonight.
Cleaned the house from top to bottom, including scrubbing some wax crayon off the front of the house and the steps. Oops, should mention it was the dolls house :rotfl: looks loads better though.

All in all, a good weekend. Keen to make a plan for next steps so we can crack on with it. Back soon. PF.

Well nearly another week has passed us by. As its payday tomorrow I thought I update on here my achievements (or lack of) this month.

Paid £700 off debt, considering we had a holiday and a big other thing going on. Am pleased with this
    Earned £50 from surveys
    Not managed any runs :(
    Bought some Christmas gifts
Got the quote for the building work
Sold some goods for own business

We have a busy weekend ahead and some necessary spends will be required for a wedding and a baptism. However, presents already bought (from pressie fund) and they're both very special people to us so very important. I bought one dress of fleabay and will wear another I already have for other one. Girls outfits bought when on 25% off and DH discount :T will use standard shoes and cardigans rather than buying especially.

    Evening frugal pals :hello:

Well busy couple of days. I have:

Mended DH suit trousers in 2 places - suit is 11 years old and whilst he hasn't worn it loads, he's worn it enough. Now it will be good for several more :)
Made popcorn for small whilst she washes a film as a treat. Used plain kernels rather than a pack thing - cost c5p :T
Spent £10 on over £30 of goods in waitr0se last night - loads of ys stuff for freezer
Ordered the meat pack that was in martins email for next week
    Set up a 6% saver
Did next years budget - decided on approach with DH :D (financial year at work so not necessarily as far ahead as it may seem)
Order a mywaitr0se card, will order one for DH too. We now have a local store, will make use of free coffee
Reused gift bag for wedding gift

Other things I need to do:
E mail John Lewis's, not had any vouchers last 2 times DH has :(
    Call mortgage company
Call Skye and try and haggle some more
Find my gel nail kit. Was planning on doing my nails for the weekend. Has gone walkabout :( if I can't find it will have to get some remover tomorrow so I can just do a normal one as its all together
Iron and pack for the weekend
    Quick tidy round tomorrow/tonight

    Enjoy your weekend :D

What.a.busy.weekend. But it was fab:T saw 2 sets of the lovliest people I know, and got to share very special times and for that we are truly grateful. Still paid quite a lot to stay in a luxury hotel that we wouldn't normally, but everything else was very controlled :) plus the cost of the hotel didn't go on a cc as we don't do that anymore :T

Any way other things happening. £10 survey voucher arrived, straight in the house pot :) completed another £3 survey tonight, will cash that out when it shows. Should be getting product to test too :D

6% saver is active :T I love another pot to fill. Have set up SO, just need to amend another SO to balance. Plus it means another line on a couple of spreadsheets :T

Meat box from martins e mail arrived so we've had steak for tea :D tasted amazing - was great value for all of it. Will keep my eye out for other offers from them. They do loyalty points and referrals to.

Big news is that spemt much of the day sorting out a new mortgage fix, will take nearly 2 years off term and reduce spend by £100 :money: we could have been more aggressive but want to do things round the house and can use the extra for that. We have set up an aggressive savings budget for the next 12 months to start and will do the same for the following 12. This will give us a sum for building work or to pay down the capitaL if we decide. After the debacle of the mortgage conversation a couple of weeks ago, they have agreed that their decision was wrong. I'm glad I'm not going mad as I'd worked it all out :T

Need a POA for refurbing each room and also meet with builder to decide longer term plans for extension.

Gel nail kit still MIA but nappies have been donated ;)
Right, off to catch up on a few diaries and keep out of fridge :)

Worked form home today. What bliss :)

I did call about another job I saw, now to most that might not seem like an out there thing to do, but I've worked for my company for nearly 25 years so it was big just making the call  actually the position had been closed and re-advertised by mistake but it was an itch I needed to scratch due to location and the job on offer. Decision made.

I've been out to what will likely become a weekly ritual for me. Popped to a relative new mr w store on the outskirts of posh local village. Got mega haul of ys items last week so went back for me tonight. Spent £14 which included a couple of full price options that were on my list but lots of goodies :Tincluding:

2 bags parsnips - will make soup
    Organic broccoli
4 ciabatta rolls - in freezer
2 packs shortcrust pastry - in freezer
    2 bags spring onions
2 pots of rice stir fry thing
    2 boxes of falafels
    Fruit loaf

Have just enjoyed a 10p pot of stir fry rice and edame bean thing with 3 falafels - for the sum total of about 12p. It was delicious. Even better ate it straight out of the tub so only a fork to wash :rotfl:

I'll be back there next Thursday :D can't wait until I get my card through so I can have a free cuppa whilst I'm shopping for ultimate value :rotfl:

Called bank an updated SO to my 6% account to the maximum. Must diarise to increase it again with 2 months to go as I was £100 short last month and you can't transfer to it.

I've added 2 savings pots to my master spreadsheet as we have 2 big family weddings next year. I've put £3 from a survey in one today as a start :T

Hubby and I both on the case with 1pol. I just need to use my desktop for a couple of ipos surveys as they seem to get stuck at some points on my pad.

Must, must get back to fleabay and running, that's my target for July. No excuses. Could be listing tomorrow night. Have a bag of goods ready so it's only laziness stopping me. Would love to see savings account going up more.
