What?
What it make you think I don't get a spam from the debt collector?
Actually, I keep getting the same texts over and over to ask me to phone them......
Obviously I am referring to the text you copied in your OP which is neither marketing spam nor sales spam!0 -
READ THS!
What is a spam text?
A spam text is a text message sent to a mobile phone marketing a particular product or service.
These texts can have many purposes. For example:
Claims management – these mainly concern personal injury claims and claims for mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI).
Debt management – these messages offer various types of debt management services.
You have got the fact wrong!
You do know that debt management is not the same as debt collection don't you? They are not trying to sell you a product or service.0 -
It is quoted as an example but the same applies for any unsolicited text regardless of the subject
I am waiting for your answer.
What would happens when I report it to OFCOM and ICO and what they would do about it?
As for using telephone preference service, do I need to send the text 'opt-out' to that number (cant give the number out due to he will track the number on google to find my post on here) that I got on my phone?
Do you mean that when I send the 'op-out' text and if he ignore and keep sending me the unsolicited texts, I need to make a complaint to OFCOM and ICO?
How I can send the text 'opt-out'? do I need to send on my phone or do it on tps site?
Please let me know!!!0 -

You need to ask OFCOM what they will do, all we are doing is pointing you in the right direction
If you have a number where the text came from, the reply is opt-out or STOP.
If they ignore you, you report it0 -
....If you have a number where the text came from, the reply is opt-out or STOP......
This is not good advice,
(Apart from this poor advice from the rabble-rouser), throughout this forum the advice is to ignore debt collectors!
Don't reply to their texts (all that will do is confirm that you received them and encourage them to make more use of the number to try and contact you)
Installing an app that will block calls and texts from them is the most effective way of dealing with this!0 -

No it doesn't.
From the TPS's FAQ'sTelephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive live unsolicited direct marketing calls. Organisations chasing an outstanding amount are not obliged to screen their data against the TPS register as the calls do not relate to selling/marketing of a product or service.
Non direct marketing calls including debt collection falls outside of the remits within which the TPS operates. If the organisation is making debt collection calls to your number for a debt not owed please seek advice from your local Trading Standards.
If they are asking for an individual not known or associated with you please advise the company accordingly and request suppression of your telephone number. If they continue to call disregarding your request, please contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) who are the body responsible for enforcing the regulation surrounding the Data Protection Act (DPA). They may be able to offer more practical advice or guidance from a data protection perspective. Their details are:

Understanding what mobiles can or cannot do would be helpful for you before you make statements.
Be a clever chap, and tell everyone WHAT APP you refer to you especially when the OP stated his phone could not block calls.
You would do everyone whose phone cannot block, a great service especially if apps cannot be installed on older phones. EE cannot tell me but guess you can ??
Unless you can say which app will work with every phone, you are misleading people
In text terms, opt-out or stop is the same as "cease" in writing which is practiced by some here. It is not an invite to continue and if they persist in harassment they can be reported.
And Johno100 quotes T&C's about debt collectors ???? No reference is made about scammers and at least you should know, these are scammers, maybe not.
Do cease your rudeness or do I text you saying "opt-out" or stop
I see your rudeness is still the same,0 -
There are techie forums here if you cannot find out about phone blockers via google.
Your advice to the OP to respond to the texts from the debt collector was bad and needed correcting.
Members often have to correct your poor advice. Regulars know what to ignore, but newbies will not realise the dangers of following your often poor advice.0 -

IE, you don't know ?
I know already but please don't pass the buck to google, you made a false statement and readers are strongly advised to contact their network provider to see if their mobile will accept such apps to block calls. Some will, some won't, its that simple0
