You can get an adapter that goes into a 3 pin socket for about a quid off amazon
Left is never right but I always am.

A property we own has the shaver socket built in to a light over the basin. OP perhaps they plan something like that? Is there definitely no sign of power on the plans? Definitely ask about it as soon as possible, it's really not unreasonable

What do shaving sockets and bathroom mirrors have to do with hygine?

I would only expect these items (regardless of how much I was paying) if a) they were mentioned in the brochure, b) they were in a show home, c) most importantly shown on the plans.

Thank you. I was drawing a parallel to Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory, rather than hygiene itself. You are right though, I figure these items need to be stated in the brochure. It's my first time buying, so that's a lesson learned...never take anything for granted.

I suspect he's using the word in the same way as Herzberg as something you'd take for granted in a "luxury" build

Nothing to do with hygiene in the cleanliness sense.

Spot on! Glad someone understood :)

I do. Electric toothbrush is plugged into it 24 x 365.

The OP should have one fitted now by the builder because it will be an absolute (and costly) pain to retrofit. Every new house I've bought (all two of them) had the ability to specify extra points etc, at a cost. Does this one not do that?

Sadly the developer would not deviate one bit from the build specification. I tried asking a while back.

I can't believe you 'assumed' things would be included when you bought the house. You get what you pay for and thats whatever is on the plans when you signed.

What one persons idea of 'luxury' will not match what the next persons is.

Well, it's my first time buying, so I think it's fair to say that it's a learning experience. We can't all be experts from the outset.

I would want a shaver point too (for my toothbrush). I would also want a power source available so that I could install one of the new wall mirror/cabinets which have lighting. I would pay the builders extra to do this now before its all tiled. If you don't arrange for this to be done by the builders you will probably need to damage the lovely new tiling or have an ugly wiring conduit running down from the ceiling..

The developer won't deviate from the standard build. They won't make any modifications now, which is pretty annoying. I agree, that would have been the sensible approach though.

Yes, I checked both the plans and also visually when I visited the flat. Sadly the developer would not make any changes to the build.
