The poor, little soul. How horrible for him and for you, and OH, Mellymoo. My sister had two gorgeous kittens, back in the day, must be 30+ years ago, both of whom, it transpired, were born with this. Both died, one while still young, the other hung on for years but had to keep having teeth out, other problems. She had no other cats at the time. Maybe there is more they can do, now...?
What did the vet advise, should the worst happen? What will you do in the meantime? Tomcat and Pickle must be at some risk if they share food, or am I wrong? What a lousy card that poor, little tigger has been dealt. I really hope the vet is mistaken.
Very best of luck.0 -
I hope all 3 of your beautiful cats are okay. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

His breath is getting better smodlet and his gums look less red to me.
He''s putting weight on (slowly but it is goin on) his coats improving, his legs look less mangled.
I luckily haven't allowed them to share food they all have their own bowls.
He's in, had his tea, had a huge love (which he loves he rolls around purring) his breathing is a lot better, he's also stopped spraying.
Will get a pic later, I'm hoping the vets doing that thing they do where they prepare you for the worst case. His breath etc is getting better I don't think if he was felv it would.0 -
I'll be honest, I don't know anything about FeLV except that it is infectious and fatal.
There are other reasons why gums can be inflamed, gum disease, for instance. Our big, black, old b*gger had to have all of his teeth out because of some weird, autoimmune thing he had, poor, old s0d but it was not contagious, so no risk to Dude or Sister.
Please the powers, good food, warmth and love can fix his furry form. He sounds like a lovely, little chap and definitely deserves a break.
Best wishes to Stripey, yourself and OH, and Tomcat, and Pickle, of course.0 -
He does smodlet he's very sweet
Pickle came in (I was making ham and tomato sarnies, she can hear food from miles away) demanded a huge love in the bedroom with just me and her.
She's now snoozing on the pillow she has filched (orthopedic v pillow her's now apatently lol)
Stripey is on his clean blankie
Tom cats in his bed0 -
I do so hope to hear a happy ending to this story, Mellymoo, as with Tomcat and Pickle. You and OH must be "old souls", I think, to be so kind and compassionate. It is something I can only aspire to be.
Good luck, Stripey.
I just remembered, apparently, purring is a healing thing, a self-healing thing, even. Think how relaxed you feel after a prolonged fuss with a tigger on your lap. It is why even very ill tiggers purr. It seems vibrations really are good so, the more purrs, the better. Yourself and OH have a mission to elicit as much purring as possible from said Stripey. Please give him a fuss from me.0 -

Really glad Daves improving I bet home is making him heal faster.
Tomcat (my big puddle of black and white fur) just wanted a cuddle so been carrying him round. He let me put him down when I explaimed his food couldn't be chopped if I'm carrying him.
Madam isn't talking to me (we are Def in teenage now) because I can't carry her and tomcat.
Stripey has gone out to play.
Why am I not keeping him in? He's used to out, he panics after his snooze, food, cuddle and play if he can't get out
He came from out have to figure out how it will work if he is felv0 -
That should have answered the what will happen.
UNess his quality of life is compromised or he has pain IF he is felv we will find a way of keeping him be is not going to a shelter as he will waste away.
He is less skittish with us and now talks to me a lot.0 -
So made a chicken dinner (think you all know where this is headed lol)
Cooked chicken a lot earlier because OHS sleep is all over the place due to a change in medication. As I am aware now of madam cheeky bottom I cleverly put the chicken on a plate in the warmer so she couldn't get to it, l went to the loo, came back, pickle was in the roasting tray, I now have a greasy kitten lol.
She loves chicken she's had loads0
