Can anyone here actually point me to the page that states credit card protection for this type of service. I cant find any protection that lasts over 3 months never mind 2 years, or any that covers for a company going bust.

"Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1977, the card issuer is "jointly and severally liable along with the supplier for the supplier's misrepresentation or breach of contract."

In practice, this means that in certain cases when a supplier does not deliver as advertised, the customer can make a claim against the supplier or the credit card company.

Under current rules, people have the right to their money back from credit card companies if they use their card to buy individual goods worth between £100 to £30,000 which turn out to be "faulty". "

As for time period - if today you paid for a holiday in Dec 2007 that failed to materialize or occur as expected (hotel not built etc.) then you'd get your money back - so the "guarantee" is not time limited from "purchase" to receipt of goods or completion of contract.

Well done Quoia - You have stuck to your guns and given good answers to the detractors. I too am thinking about the latest E7even offer, but it is 1mgb for 2 years at £10 per month, but does include connection and router/modem. I was worried about the 2yrs. tie-up, but it looks as though the CC payment covers it. My only prob is that we may move next year in which case I have to shell out another £69.

It's a strange old world we live in. The majority of us come to this site, for two reasons, 1), we respect the knowledge and information we find within its pages and 2), we want to avoid spending money unnessessarily. Yet, whenever we are introduced to something attractively cheap, what happens?, 1) someone knocks it and 2) we are apprehensive.

Wishing to save on dial-up with wanadoo at £15, I elected to transfer to Naims for £10, now I can get broadband for £10 with e7even if I choose.

It might go bust, I might not last the two years, we might move, so many things MIGHT happen. I feel that if you are fairly comfortable with what you've read and you're happy to proceed, then so be it. If whatever isp you are with goes under, so what ?, there's always tomorow. I'm currently saving huge amounts of cash with the telephone providers I'm with via this site, I'm not worried that THEY might go bust. Enjoy while you can.

Other posts on MSE (Cheapest Broadband Provider Discussion is one I think) really slam V21, so check it out thoroughly before you go with this ISP>

Acting upon this info I telephoned CitiCard Customer Services (0800 No.) They say Absolutely NOT, the consumer is liable !! In other words the card user is responsible for the transaction !! What has anyone to say about this ??

I also checked this out and was told the same but when I posted I was accused of Knocking the offer and being suspicious so I removed my post. I just thought that people who went for this offer and paid upfront would want to save money so the fact that they might NOT be covered if it goes bust would interest them. I contacted local CAB office and Trading Standards who both told me the same as well as my own Credit Card Supplier. It seems to be a bit of a grey area as only certain services are covered anyway.

    UPDATE !!
After CitiCards definite NO, decided to ask 2 other CC companies with whom I have a passing acquanitance! Responses as follows:

    1. Marks & Spencer Money Credit Card : "If the company went into liquidation, you are almost certainly covered, but if they just "disappeared" or failed to provide the service, then we have a special team that would investigate and give consideration to a refund."
    2. NatWest Bank Visa Credit Card: "Yes, if the company went into liquidation, but probably not otherwise although we would give consideration
    to any claim!!"
So, more or less the same replies. Incidentally CitiCard was the only one of the 3 that I believe had their Customer Services at a call centre in India. Maybe this thread should be discussed in the Credit Card Section, so I will post there as well and see what comes up.
