Good morning
What a sunny morning it is! I had to run out this morning for coffee and was stunned by how nice the weather was....long may it continue!!
So, not a lot happening on the money making front...although I have barely spent a penny since I last updated.
Off to visit my mum today - she's a book hoarder so I'll be sneaking around with my We Buy Books app to see if anything is worth more than 5p!
I've been getting quotes over the last few days for my car insurance. I think I messed up though because all the cashback offers are only for new quotes. I just wonder how to get this. So, if I search through the meerkat company for example, I get a list of quotations. Then I have to search the companies that are not on the comparison websites, then by the time I have a clear picture of which is the best policy, a load of quotes have been saved and I can't get cashback! Is that how it works? I've always managed in previous years to get better quotes with companies that didn't offer cashback, but this year the best quote is with a company that offers £50 so I'd rather not lose it if possible. My insurance isn't due til 9 May so I want to wait til then to pay too.
Also, how do people pay for water? I set up a DD when I moved in here in September. I paid 2 x DDs (was under the impression that it was for a fixed monthly amount, kinda like the way I pay my electricity) and then they haven't taken any more payments. I emailed them and they said there is nothing due and the next meter reading they take will be in October - is this normal? I will have moved out by then and don't have a clue how much I'm using so could have a bill for any amount. I'm with Thames Water. I have no idea where my meter is located (they said "1M OUT FROM FRNT DOOR 1M LHS OF FRNT DOOR IN FW" but I have no idea what that means!! I'm in a flat and I've checked everywhere it could possibly be. Any ideas?
Blimey, hopefully I'll have something worthwhile to contribute soon, but I know you all know loads. Maybe some of you will know something about either of the above dilemmas I'm having :A
In the meantime, I'm off to get screen out of loads of surveys....0 -
Oh, while I'm on here begging for help, I have another one...
I did some MS work for a company last June. They paid into an account that I had already closed (my fault for not updating my bank details with them), but I checked with them (several times) and each time they say the payment went through, didn't bounce back, definitely got paid on time etc. they sent me a proof of payment statement and I have no reason to disbelieve them. However, each time I check with the bank with the closed account, they tell me there was no account for it to be paid into so it would have bounced straight back to the originator.
I'm looking for the banging head on wall emoji as I have no idea where to take this next. The MS company are certain the payment was made and that it did not get returned. The bank are certain it couldn't have been paid as there the account was closed so it would have bounced straight back to the MS company.
So again lovely fellow challengers, does anyone have advice for me on my third dilemma...or maybe even just a bang head on wall emoji to cheer me up!0 -

I'm not with Thames water but, generally you either pay quarterly or monthly, and you generally only get a bill quarterly (well I do,) and they read the meter when they feel like it (like the gas/leccy but you can submit readings - not that I ever have).
Your meter is basically down at the end of your path at the left hand side. If I've read it right. 1 metre from your front door on lefthand side.
Instructions on how to read your meter here.

Did you find any books worth anything at your mums? I have books coming out of my ears and they don't want any of them.
In other news: I've downloaded Perk scratch and win and am randomly scratch carding for free. It might be a long road as 20k points = £10 paypal and I have 500 so far.Make £520 a year in 2020 so far (£0 cash £0 AGC)

Re car insurance, you have to clear cookies and cache on your pc, then go back to cashback site and take their insurance. I would dobit now before goes up in price. I think you may be able to delay payment until May or set up a dd so the first payment would be due in may but they may ask for am initial amount now.
Water I get billed once a year but usually pay dd as never have money to pay upfront bill. You could make monthly payments of x amount to put account in credit reafy for when you leave in Oct so mot hit with big bill. Or take water reading and ask them for a bill upto now and psy that and then pay a credit amount each month based on current bill divided by 12vmonths.0 -
