I am writing april off now. My target was £150, I spent £264. I was trying to eek out the extra week to go from the 1st to the 1st after we get paid on the 25th and keep the money as tight as possible.

I think I over stretched myself and disenaged from the target at it wasnt really dooable for us. Im tempted to take it out of Mays budget and try and stretch that out, I have looked at the budget for the month and we have enough money to start from scratch on the first with a more dooable budget for us so I will be doing that.

As someone has pointed out, we still spent less than we used to, so progress has been made, considering how out of control I felt this month.
  • I'm now finished for April - not quite sure how or why we came under budget so much, but I'm declaring at 89.18/£120

    207.41 April total.

So glad to be under budget, just a little sad that it has only be achieved by DD doing my shopping. Like cheating really. I can have self control when not tempted.

So annual total so far also around budget figure.

Will be needing a big shop at some point, but not feeling the need to rush out yet.

Hoping for a quiet bank holiday with no spending and quiet time at home.

ps I really must get to grips with menu planning.

£34-28, final spend of April, got enough chicken to last until late July, coffee to last about a year and chocolate till end of June, those are my must haves, probably doubled my budget for April but hopefully only veg and dairy needed for a few weeks.
Do I need it or just want it.

Finished off the month by making use of a Tesco £7 off £50 spend voucher. Carefully used the self-scanner to head to the tills with £50.86 total, to make best use of the discount.
I usually only spend about £30 a week, so this felt like a big spend. But did stock up on some stuff I use a lot, like squash, and washing liquitabs.
Because it's fun to have money!

Total fail with my numbers, BUT big improvement with slashing my former normal grocery/TA average.
I actually might have made it except our daughter drove in for the weekend. We ended up going out to eat and then coffee, eggs and milk shop this morning. Ah well. On to May>>>>>>>>!!!!!!

    $515.07/$450
