Since I last updated here I've spent a further £15.11, mostly on a load of ys meat, but also dog food and milk. Cupboards are full, the freezer is stocked so it's all rather hunkydory right now in my world.0

been at parents so haven't spent although I took dad shopping for food. £100 for the week because they now live on ready meals. Not a criticism - coping with cooking just got really difficult for them for health reasons. We sort out the healthier looking things for them!
So a reminder to myself that this minimal budgeting thing may not be possible for all of my days.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
Another NSD. We picked up our veg/fruit basket at the doctor's office parking lot. All food is trucked in from local farms. It was a Hugh haul and we are so very pleased. There are no YS specials here in New Mexico (USA) where I live. This is my way to save. I'm estimating the saving at around 50-75%, depending on what's in the basket. (Always a nice surprise)Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Needed petrol, seems to be going up a penny a litre twice a week.

Whilst still being cold ridden and lacking any kind of energy, I have enlisted DD to do an inventory of the cupboards / freezer, amazing the stuff we actually have in there. Have also enlisted DH to do the cooking today, on the understanding he doesn't have to come up with ideas (he hates that part!) ...
So, he dug out a portion of hm leek / potato soup, hm chicken stock, added some veggies (onions.leeks.carrots) and minestrone pasta (erm, he came up with that on the suggestion of soup!!), so looks like we're in for a treat shortly
Dinner will be hm chicken casserole / mash & veggies for DD, beef en croute with stilton (ready meal) with veggies for us. Freezer dive
All of that, means no takeout
Now, to try and plan a few more days of low maintenance cooking to get us back into the groove.
What I need to do is get back into batch cooking for the freezer, but certainly won't be this week. First I need to clear out some of the food items lurking in the freezer ! Belgian waffles and blueberry ice cream anyone ?!GC - March 2024 -0 -
Hey all hope your weekends are going well - still nippy round here but at least the sun has been out.
Further spend of £10.82 this week mainly on veg milk and bread - getting tighter to stretch out until 9th (15 days)when it is payday but am determined.
Have £27.90 left until then and NSD's last three days with no planned spend until at least Thursday (fingers crossed)
Found a Nigella recipe for marmite and pasta which looks tasty but needs stock which will try as have all the ingredients in

Freezer surprise tonight - think it is curry of some description and stewed fruit using the last of the pears.
