Actually turned into a nsd - I missed the bus! Will mean shopping on Saturday is essential. But everything will last longer. I've replanned tomorrow to eat from the storecupboard. Go me

Sticking to nsds here. Still over budget but not a penny has been added to the existing overspend.
Made bread today as we'd none left in the freezer, but had plenty of flour and yeast. Only 4 more days to go until the 26th which is payday and I know that we have a chicken in the freezer, and plenty of potatoes in he pantry, as well as veg on the allotment (sprouting broccoli) so we're battening down the hatches and riding out the storm:)
Must admit it's been much easier since MrO came fully on board though.

Great job planning your push to the finish line! :T:T

I agree that it really helps to have everyone on board. When I told my husband I was doing this challenge, he was really happy. We were eating out way to much. Himself, who does not eat leftovers, now looks in the fridge and says 'we need a leftover night'. It's a miracle!!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

    Evening all

It's very gratifying to manage to stretch the budget isn't it :D

Think that's one of the reasons I continue to try to be inventive and frugal, batch cooking, making soups and using up left-overs. You kind of feel you're beating the sms at their own game eh :rotfl:

    Had another NSD here :j

Hope you all have a frugal Friday

Being able to claim back everything I get foodwise is killing my budgeting attitude! So far I've spent £122 on foody things, including an amazing (but quite overpriced) takeaway last night. And this doesn't include the restaurant's bills for two evenings in a row
On the other hand, I'm telling myself to seize the moment, cause I won't be on the expenses forever :A

got in a tesco delivery yesterday so I am way over budget for this month at £227.00. But apart from sardines and fromage frais I really shouldn't need anything for the rest of the month. Just about to start GI hip and thigh diet by Rosemary Conley and have most of the stuff in. It does seem to be a reasonably cheap menu plan.
must say NO to impulse buys!

£54.65 to add from my first MF delivery. That's £22.54 for the 2nd purse once I did some order rejigging and split one order into 2!

Will be spending more today, but will try and keep it to a minimum.

  • So only today and the weekend left under this month's budget. Only about £2.70ish left (give or take) - should be able to last - have lots of food in the house and plenty in the freezer and cupboards.

This month so far was a hard month for us.

Next month might be a bit easier as i will be at the in-laws due to OH's op. They live in a flat and that will be easier for him in terms of moving rather than in our house.

    Onwards & upwards!

    Hope that all are OK.

Clinging to the challenge by the fingertips, here.

Need milk so will grab some tonight, but have just a squidge over £14 left in the budget, lasting until Thursday next week.

Necessary though, as I only have a 'spare' £7 left in my other budgets now.

On the whole, it's been like OH hasn't noticed so far, but I had a bit of a disaster last night. I bought some YS Asda Butchers Selection sausages last week - 12 for 43 p. I portioned this up for 4 sausages per meal and froze to use when ready. Last night I thought we'd have bangers and mash, and it was going to be awesome - a mountain of mash, with some peas, cabbage and onion gravy, with the sausages sticking out of the mash like cow horns. It wasn't to be... as soon as I started cooking, they didn't just split and splurge - they flipping disintegrated! I ended up chucking in some peppers with some beaten egg and milk and mixed herbs and making an impromptu sausage fritata. Not the usual thing I'd serve with mash and gravy, but at least it tasted quite nice. :rotfl:
