See, another example of how far you have come and that you CAN and HAVE changed the habits of a lifetime !! Well done Try harder, you have come so far - apply that rule in the future ie think of what you will spend then put 10%of that figure away straightaway into savings or an overpayment and you won't even miss it :T:T:T

Almost at the end of the month again and it has just flown by .
My savings as of today stand at £19,096.44 ,today i am going to withdraw the £96.44 as i have various things for the kitchen that desperately need replacing so £19,000 going forward .
Next month the target will be to reach £20,000 ,this sounds such a brilliant number i desperately want to reach it ,most will be coming as always from my husbands wage and the rest from ebax sales .
Grocery budget down by £160 this month with 10% at least going to Mortgage Overpayment and the rest to buy birthday presents as discussed with all of you and a very good idea ,in fact i might pay in more than 10% depending on what gifts i can find and make ,i am really looking forward to doing this to see what i can get for much less money .
So aim for February to make £1000 and shop wisely for the month .0 -
Thank you Daisy0

Great targets for this month, nice to have a big round number to focus on. Do you think it would help you to detail your mortgage amount at the end of the month, as well as your savings total. It will be quite motivating to see the mortgage decreasing ?0

Well what about that ,a good sale on ebax this morning and a long ago loan paid back also a call to my phone providers complaining about price and they reduced the monthly DD by £10.
So Mortgage today stands at £165,589.87
Savings today £19,792.18
Mortgage outstanding £145,797.69 if i were to clear with savings.
Almost reached £20,000 this month after all Busy Mee1 just £207.82 short ,it would be wonderful if i could make £1207.82 savings in February meaning i could reach £21,000 how good would that be ,its definitely got me motivated to see what i can do .Thank you for the suggestion Busy Mee1 .0 -
Woo hoo :j Great news TH and you have also paid over £4K off your mortgage since starting your diary. £21k by the end of Feb will be fabulous :T0

Morning everyone and thank you Busy Mee1 and themadvix as ever for your support.
It suddenly dawned on me that my savings on the 1st of January were £18,000 and on the 1st of February £19,792.18 making a savings total over the month of £1,792.18 ,the extra money came mainly form The Millionaire Challenge and a loan owed but much of which was spent on a holiday so i actually did really well overall and am very surprised .
Target this month to reach £21,000 which means i have to find £1207.82 plus the money for birthday gifts ,i have already bought a couple of very small presents and following ch4rlys advice i am going to make up a little basket with reasonably priced but useful things inside .Savings this month to come from ebax selling ,husbands extra work ,food savings ,diesel savings from two cars and anything else i can think of .Survey monies are going into the Christmas fund i am almost at £50 on one site and took £4.82 through paypal on another ,all the others have points and to be honest i havent looked to see how they pay out yet but pleased with the results so far .
Food budget £400 but hoping for £240 saving £160
Diesel budget £160 for two cars but hoping for £140 saving £20
Making a total saving of £180 ,looking forward to the challenge and the savings have to come from somewhere.0 -
That's fantastic TH
I'm sure they will love the thought you have put into the gift. Well done on the savings, that is fantastic! I hope the ebax sales go well again this month and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the food and diesel savings too
