I almost always reverse in to a space; it makes it easier to leave. I use a basket, not a trolley, so no worries about getting to the boot.
As regards parking next to someone else; why not? I can park in any (non-disabled etc) space. I do think it looks more tidy and structured to park cars together rather than randomly scattered.
Synchronised parking?0 -
i always try to find the lone car at the back of the carpark to park next to. very close to.
i'm a bit of a git like that all told.

I always park towards the end of the carpark furthest away from the supermarket where there is plenty of spaces.
The amount of times I have been sat in my car and someone has opened their car door on to mine! I have lost count. People are also so rude (in my experience) when you confront them for hitting your car with their door!0 -

My husband used to be very precious about his cars,in the days when we had new ones and would take me shopping then park as far from the supermarket entrance as possible (didn't mind my having to battle my way over with loaded trolley in pouring rain), but one day,he needed to leave the car ,briefly, and returned to find it had two neighbours.
I have an ancient mark 1 Fiat Punto , my shopping car, which has so many dents and scuffs (not my fault (vandals and trolley pushers) that another no longer matters,so I can park nearer the entrance....only to come out to find one of the huge vehicles now popular, parked on either side, so it's difficult to see what's coming along the lane.
I'm always careful about not knocking an adjacent car by holding the edge of my door, if space is limited, but others don't return the courtesy.0 -
Many moons ago I returned to my car only to find a car parked close to mine with the biggest door mirror in the world blocking my way. So I thought I'd move it inwards on its spring but it snapped off and kind of dangled on its wires in a sorry state. Maybe the owner learned not to park like that again.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Maybe you were lucky your act of vandalism wasn't caught on CCTV?0

Surely the only inconvenience is idiots putting their trolleys in silly places, probably the same people who never take them back to standsYes Your Dukeiness0 -
The one that annoys me is when you follow a car into the multi-storey, who then spots someone coming back from the town and stops to wait, so everyone is then held up whilst they put all the bags in the boot, get in and reverse out. All because they can't be bothered to go up to a floor that's half empty.0

People's observation skills are so poor nowadays - watch the number who walk along head down texting for example and the speed at which some drivers whizz down the access roads in their hurry to be gone. Not to mention the idiot directly opposite who chooses to start moving out of his space whilst you are still moving out of yours.
I stand a much better chance of avoiding the hazards coming out front first.
As for the lone car syndrome - I really don't know unless they are doing it just as a wind up which is very likely!A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
