Easter Bank Holiday weekend - what small dfw things will you do this weekend?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Morning everyone :hello: thanks La E

Happy long weekend, only 3 days for me rather than 4 but better than the normal 2 :rotfl:

    Today will mainly look like:
Pop to mr s and collect click and collect shopping, take bags
    Quick vacuum round
Last bit of washing outside, some more will go out shortly. Beautiful day here so no need for heating :T
Check spam for email I'm expecting about sale I did - I want to know how much I'm getting back :o
Log in to utility account and see if balance has updated since I loaded readings
Hopefully some DIY later so we can start making progress :)
Make bread pudding, soak bread before the shops. Will use water instead of milk. Use items from use up box in this (dates, mixed spice and malt extract) bread was out of freezer yesterday
Make crumble mix, get butter out of freezer for this
Pad to cc for sale I made yesterday
Left over onion bread and butter for breakfast - not the healthiest but sometimes it is the small things that make us happy ;)

    Enjoy your day everyone :)

Morning all, thanks for starting us off LaE :) My mutt sometimes barks after we have gone up to bed, so you have my sympathy. He did one yap this morning as he wanted to go out, but I will let him off that one!
Nice and sunny here atm, but this morning is supposed to be the only nice bit of the weekend here, unfortunately :(

    Today's list:
Porridge and fruit from freezer for cheapie breakfast :)
    Dog walks x 2
    Good tidy up needed :o
Dinner already cooked, plenty of meatballs with tomato sauce left from yesterday, just need to cook some spaghetti to go with them :)
Lunch also already done as there is HM soup left in the fridge :)
Wrap GD2's birthday present as we are going to her party tomorrow :)
Meal plan with an eye to using up items in the fridge before we go away next Thursday. What doesn't get used will be frozen!
Sow mangetout peas in a big pot
Buy some yogurt as I have run out - nothing else needed!
Check whether seedlings /indoor plants need watering

I'll be happy if I get those things done!
  • Morning,

Woken feeling a bit better thank you, must have been a 24 hour thing. OH and I fell asleep on the sofa last night and woke at 11pm very confused! He is currently at work so I am on my own, so quick wash before I escape with the kids to go and meet him from work. Then a whole day out away from here. Still hunting sites for places to rent but with it being bank holiday, all is quiet. I guess where it is the school holidays I don't have the dreaded school run to face each day however I'm sure with the good weather her and her little friends will be outside in the communal gardens making their presence known :(

Hope everyone else is ok x

    Good morning everyone
Thanks for the start LaE - looking forward to that wave of relaxation arriving. I've had a bit of a restless night and I'm not sure why, but ds is poorly this morning. He woke me early with a temperature and headache and even Calp0l isn't doing its thing so far. Hopefully he'll sleep it off...
Still planning mainly to be on the road to relaxation for the weekend. :) According to the weather this is going to be the best day so was hoping to get out and about later. Obviously that will depend on how ds is feeling though so it may be another day indoors.
    Plans :
    :easter: check banking and PAD
:easter: do a load of washing
    :easter: minimal housework
    :easter: look after ds
:easter: research online for a nice family walk that we can do for free. I know Ally linked some websites a few days ago - must look for them.
    :easter: crochet
:easter: batch cook if I can be bothered with it.
:easter: relax and do not stress
That's it for now - I'm sure that there will be more later

Ahhh so thats why I didnt want to get out of bed La E. Oh and I am glad that my OH is at work too, sorry if that sounds a bit mean, I love him really but its nice to have a day on my own sometimes.

MTC hope you are having a nice day out and about somewhere.

So, I have taken the dog for a long walk, bathed the dog because he rolled in something very nasty, bleached the bathroom after washing the dog and done 3 loads of washing. 4th load just gone in, what a lovely day out there.

I have also sorted some paperwork and I am now having a little rest with my book. I must put my feet up this weekend and try and relax a little - it doesnt come easily.

  • Hi all,

    Hope you all enjoyed today.

I had a nice day out, dreaded the drive home however I have some new findings regarding my issues. It seems my partners ex, whom we have had ongoing issues with for a few years now has somehow befriended neighbours, which explains the need to personally pick on me and throw personal insults at me. She must be so proud now she has a bodyguard and someone who can monitor our every move! It still doesn't change the fact they are people I don't wish to have conflict with and still don't wish to be here however it explains a lot! As we came in we bumped into him from downstairs and I expected comments and confrontation and there was nothing. Shaking still though. Hate living like this.
