I read that story on my news app and it was full of holes. It talked about him being declared fit for work after applying for PIP.
The MSM really need to read up on the benefits system if they're going to keep reporting on it, there's so much false information being given out it's getting to the point of being dangerous. At the very least it's stopping proper debate.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

That's my point. The article I read said he applied for PIP and was found fit for work. So either he applied for PIP and failed, or applied for ESA and was found fit for work. The article couldn't have been right.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I don’t think the OP was asking a genuine question which is probably why your helpful response wasn't welcomed. I think he/she has just decided that the DWP are a terrible organisation out to get everyone (maybe right) and should be hindered at every opportunity and is looking for an excuse to not give a phone number. My obnoxious, ignorant and insensitive (but actually not intolerant) responses are far more suitable.
I've no idea what you're talking about.0 -

The man in question said the decision included he could hug his daughter not that hugging his daughter was the ultimate reason for denial.
That claim was mismanaged from the start....The assessor didn't even know he was terminally ill until he informed her. As a terminally ill claimant he should of been awarded it without an assessment, I expect the decision will be overturned very soon.0 -

It also said he was found fit for work. The whole article that I read (which may have been different to the one you read) was about him being forced into work. The article read as though he had been turned down for ESA. Even the headline is 'Dying father told he is fit for work after cuddling ill daughter'. PIP isn't about fitness for work.
I'm not having a go at him, I'm having a go at the sloppyness of the reporting.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

Not sure that is so in this case. I think you have to have six months or less to live and this guy said he has two years. In fact he says that five years ago he was told he had seven yeas to live

He scored zero points so may be difficult to overturn quickly.0 -

Good point, rather silly of me I just zeroed in on the Terminal diagnosis and missed the 7 years.0
