And how will the IPS determine that the range of 11 - 17mb is accurate?

I have got no idea but when I originally asked the question about Fibre Broadband I got this reply

'Your estimated speeds are between 17.5 and 11.9meg. You may get more than this though, they are just an estimated.

Of course you may get less, but if you do get less and Openreach can't improve the line to get speeds above the 11.9meg then your ISP will not be able to hold you to contract should you wish to leave and go to another provider.'

... who won't be able to do any better using the same technology because the infrastructure will be exactly the same. Naturally you will be free to bin the router and take up off-grid spoon whittling as shown in the Plusnet adverts.

Yes I understand that. My point was if I got less than 11mb I might as well stay or go back to ADSL That is one of the reasons ( among a few others) I have not made up my mind yet on Fibre Broadband

Yes. I had to google it first though!

In your case it may well be a useful option then. For the most part it's just tinkering around the edges of something that is a pretty much insoluble problem until better technologies arrive.
