My endless dental grief

I have requested the cone beam CT images. It may take up to 40 days to receive them.

I am also told by another Endodontist it is highly unlikely that the crack itself (should there be one) would present itself on those images though my consultant seems to suggest otherwise.

I am starting to think it may just be better to yank the tooth as soon as possible and save myself further misery.

My consultant just phoned me and now seems to suggest that the radiologist may have misinterpreted the cracked root filling. He said the area in question was probably where I had the tooth root partially removed (as a result of infection) and this is what gave the radiologist the wrong impression as she did not have the full history of the tooth. He said he will ask the respective radiologist to revisit the scan and clarify. He says he advises against extracting the tooth in the meantime.

He also said it is not impossible for the root filling alone to fracture for various reasons (though I did not fully understand this point).

Just as I thought the problem was solved.
