I'll be brutally honest I doubt the overdue oil change has made any difference to the lifespan of this vehicles engine.
I agree. But that's not the issue.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
3 year warranty by Nissan... From me or 3 years remaining?0
-
Yes it was only 2 years old with a 3 Year Warranty.
Did it specifically say 3 year manufacturers warranty or advertise this in any way? Or just say 3 year warranty? If the latter and they are warranting it then you have no case. You can only say they've not described it accurately if you was told a manufacturers warranty. In the case of the latter they've advertised as it including a warranty and are honouring that0 -
Vehicle is 2 years old so one year remaining.
Having quickly browsed the Motorpoint website they don't mention manufacturers warranty.
When I bought the Picanto at CarGiant they specifically mentioned that they don't guarantee that the manufacturers warranty was valid and the buyer needed to confirm that themselves.
I wonder if that was due to similar problems with previous owners being late or servicing?
OP has also not confirmed if Nissan UK said the warranty was invalid or if the info is from a Service Advisor at a local Nissan Dealer0 -
In which case i'd just take them up on the offer for the one year, reluctantly of course, but it doesn't seem like they've done any wrong0

I asked (Post #10); Was the car advertised as having manufacturer's warranty?
The OP answered (post #11): Yes it was only 2 years old with a 3 Year Warranty.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Rang Consumer Direct and they advised we could reject the car.
Yes it was advertised with a 3 year Warranty.
Checked with Nissan and it was invalid.
Motor point have offered to get us another car with full service done within the Warranty rules.
If we do not accept this car we will get a full refund.
When they were told about the advice from Consumer Direct, they stopped making excuses.Thank you all for advice!0 -

Nissan UK with an answer in writing?
Where did they advertise the Warranty? In writing in the vehicle summary? On the windscreen? Or verbally via the Salesman?
If the car suits your needs otherwise then I would just pick another, perhaps confirming the service history in the way you did previously.
There was no mention anywhere on the Motorpoint website about Manufacturers Warranty, as places like Motorpoint and CarGiant buy cars as job lots they were likely bought on the premise that they had service history from the fleet owner.
So Motorpoint will either reprice it and sell it somebody else and advise them to buy a warranty or back it to the company they bought it from if it was not as described to them.
Out of interest what engine was it?
The 1.2 DiG T or the 1.6 DiG T?
My brother in law just got traded his Mondeo that we sourced at Auction and bought a Qashqai with the 1.2 engine fitted and I was wondering if you had formed an opinion on the vehicle other than the overdue service.0
