Dumfries and Galloway went into the Union as part of Scotland. And it will leave as such. If down the line they decide to join the UK once again then they can go through the proper political processes like everyone else. It should only take them 100 years or so. 70 of which they'll spend just getting their own parliament first.

I guess they must be a little worried about the way things are going, which is understandable.

so no regard for democracy then and the wishes of the people of that region
  • No one seriously equates numbers that turn up for these sorts of rallies as evidence of anything much. I've never been to one. They are nice and all that, but the real work to be done is on the doorsteps.
You believe that the lack of support is a basis for the SNP to seek another independence vote then?
Or do you simply believe that support is not shown by holding such rallies?

    Answer the question.
    To remind you:
So for those saying that Scotland can not leave the EU against it's will, how can Scotland then propose independence against the will of parts of Scotland?

Have to admit todays poll surprised me, I did not expect those results, also felt Kezia did well on FMQ, Ruth was worse than rubbish, Nicola was ok but not very good answering Kezia I thought.

I'm not understanding where the bookies are getting their insight from, it is puzzling me, son and I discussed it and the only explanation we could think of was the EU vote for those living in Scotland but coming from outside Scotland, but we were not sure that was enough ?

    Any idea Shake?

Some people enjoy the day out. There will be plenty of people there. But there is no way to equate a gathering in Glasgow with the entirety of Scotland's future voting intentions.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?
  • Answer the question.
    To remind you:

I did. First Dumfries and Galloway will have to set up their own parliament then go through due political process. The area currently does have as much representation and say in both Holyrood and Westminster via it's MSP's and MP's as everyone else in Scotland does. Those that wish to seek to stay with the UK should there be a Yes vote, are free to make their concerns known through those that represent them. Oh and not vote SNP, or do vote No.

This whole story is a stunt anyway. Won't be long for the whole Shetland and Orkney thing to start again either.

Polling right now is a waste of time as nothing has happened yet. Was the same for the first two and a half years of the last independence campaign. People only wake up and fully engage a few months and sometimes only weeks/days out. It's only then you start seeing real movement in polls.

Since the Brexit vote there seems to have been a huge amount of churn in the middle between undecideds, Yes to No's and No's to Yes which is still very much ongoing. More seem to have moved from No to Yes than the other way round. But then again, those that say right now they are No who were previous Yes voters.. must be very soft No voters in the main. More still were previous No's who are now undecided.
Mark Diffley NEW: Our @STVNews poll has support for independence at 48% vs support for union 52% among those likely to vote
Mark Diffley ok, we asked anyone who said Yes or No if they had changed their mind since Brexit - 15% had (141 people).
Mark Diffley of that 15%, over half (55%) had moved from No to Yes; the other 45% had moved from Yes to No.
Mark Diffley we asked anyone who said they were unsure (i.e. not Y or N) whether Brexit had caused them to be uncertain...
Mark Diffley of those (65 people) 36% had supported No and were now undecided due to Brexit, 14% had gone the other way...
Mark Diffley ‏ the remainder were undecided before and after Brexit
Is all up in the air in that middle ground between current solid Yes's and current solid No's. I look at those taking the polls right now as gospel and indicators.. then remember all those EU referendum polls and predictions with Remain in the lead. And laugh. Heartily.

I didn't see FMQ's today. But the questions on todays poll asked about the party leaders were a bit 'vague'. You can see it blogged about elsewhere and on Twitter.

As usual you have answered absolutely nothing.
My link clearly states the position of the council and the law but - again as usual - you refuse to pay any heed to that.

No, you've not answered as far as I can see .
In fact it even looks like you didn't read the link - or did you just choose to ignore it?
