As a point of order, can you be a !!!!!! or grooming when the recipient is of legal age?

It's harassment in any case, and pretty wrong for a 42 year old to be involved with a 16 year old. But is it pedophilia?

That's a point of information, not of order. A point of order is when you interrupt to allege a breach of the rules.
And the answer to the first question is yes, because it is a criminal offence to bone under-18s of legal age when you are in a position of authority over them, e.g. their teacher. As it's a sexual offence, that makes you a !!!!!!, who will be living on the !!!!!! wing after you get sentenced, and the process of trying to persuade them to let you bone them would near-universally be considered grooming.
As I understand it the MSP is not considered in a position of authority over the teenager so he hasn't groomed the boy, he chatted him up. It's merely creepy. (This assumed the communication started after the boy turned 16; the media have not alleged otherwise.)
It is also not p!edophilia under the laws of the UK, though it would be in other countries. Just creepy.

Just while we're on the subject of excruciatingly creepy semantics, there is a specific term for being sexually attracted to teenagers which is "ephebophilia", and is definitely accurate in this case.
Be careful about showing off that word as in my experience the term "ephebophilia" as opposed to "p!edophilia" is mostly used by nonces in denial. No offence to any psychiatrists or scholars of Ancient Greece who use it academically.

It takes someone special to blame MI5 after the guy has admitted it.

Sad to say but I also think Nicola may also be on the way out sooner rather than later.

I really do hope so, IMO she does the Independence movement no favours.
  • So what I have picked up from the last few posts is that the SNP think they have a better chance if they persuade children to vote for them.

    Says it all really.

thank goodness it's not just me that wasnt a fan of Derek McKay ... and yeah I think Nicola is on her way out, certainly not a fan of hers but I dont know who realistically should replace her

  • Maybe the SNP can get a two for one deal and get Derek Mackay airbrushed out of history at the same time as Alex Salmond.

Reflection of social media. Probably why the vast majority of people steer well clear. Not worth the time of day. Bring back the News of the World.........

  • Seriously?  They think this is all down to the security services trying to destroy the SNP?  That says it all, I don't know where that exchange is from but I really hope the press get hold of it, if only to illustrate the sort of person that votes for the SNP.

What makes you think he's indicative of an SNP voter?
