Listening to the London based media last night , you’d think that Scotland was on the cusp of independence. Can I just confirm with Scots resident in Scotland that Sturgeon did in fact bottle it yesterday?

No, no....easy does it
Share your amusement/incredulity of the coverage, "Vigils across Scotland", supposedly contrasting the "celebrations" from Parliament Square.
Yes, Scotland did vote Remain, (I was one of them), but over a million voted to leave, and far less people voted than in 2014 when the outcome was much more crucial.
So where I will disagree with you on the rights and wrongs of the historical Leave vote in 2016; I agree with you that the BBC narrative that the whole of Scotland is crying its eyes out over Brexit is out of proportion to the reality.
Of course the "outrage" over Brexit is simply an excuse for the Nats to keep the clapped out Independence wagon on the road; a lot of them hate Brussels almost as much as they hate WH, (IMHO).
Glad to put your mind at ease.

Someone who is 70 may have another 25-30 year ahead of them. There will be 55 year olds (and younger, unfortunately) that have similar, no one has a crystal ball. Does that mean everyone needs a DNA test to check on life expectancy before we send them a voting card?
Someone 70 has likely already retired and in their last house. They'll have a locked pension.
Someone who is 16 still has 80+ years left and all that to worry about.I also don't know of any statistics that prove that "over 65's believe more fake news than any other age group" - but perhaps you could provide some details?

A few gems here for those who can’t be bothered reading it all:
We were told that the Brexit vote would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that the arrogant, dismissive exclusion of Scotland from the negotiating table would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that the visible disintegration of almost every promise made by the Leave campaign would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that the election of another Tory government would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that Theresa May’s high-handed rejection of the first formal request for a Section 30 order would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that the Etonian buffoon Boris Johnson becoming Prime Minister would send support soaring. It didn’t.
We were told that his contemptuous dismissal of a second formal request for a Section 30 order would send support soaring. It didn’t.The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0 -
I think it’s time for shakey to put a leadership bid in. The traitor sturgeon has played us all for fools and needs booting out.
I for one was disgusted with her showing yesterday. After months, nay years of rabble-rousing incompetence she has turned her back on the very lunatics that put her in charge and at the same time bitterly disappointed all the (hated) English as well.
Time for a proper leader to take over. Shakey, your time is now.0 -
