    Don't be so bloody stupid!

It's all about faith, that was established a couple of pages back. It's like a religion.
So is being a Brexiteer. Your point is ?
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?
  • Of course, with some trying to compare Brexit with Scottish independence, they forget one thing. We as the UK have all the infrastructure we need as an independent country.

Can someone please point me to things like the Scottish Central Bank, the embassies, army, air force, navy, border force, customs service, police and all the other things you need as an independent country.

That is without asking about the currency again, and how you are going to avoid the euro if you were ever allowed into the eu (you can't avoid it).
    No no no no no.
    These are irrelevant.

Currencies and the like are fun to discuss but irrelevant really.
    See?

    Not so.
A Brexiteer wants out of the EU but knows we will use the British Pound.
A pro-indy Scot wants out of the UK but knows we will use ........ what currency was that, Shakey?

These are not insurmountable issues. Recent history has many examples.
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia...etc...they all managed to set up their own institutions.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

    Since you think that ............................
Kindly explain then what currency each used whilst in the process of setting these institutions up - and how for each the currency was agreed-upon?

Why would I? Do your own googling.
I was talking about institutions by the way.

You won't get any of that until there's a referendum or a vote in the offing and a new independence campaign up and running. Salmond made a terrible mistake last time round producing the White Paper so far out from the voting date. It allowed nearly 12 months of media and commentary to rip it to shreds with constant 24/7 negative coverage and for some parts of it to become accepted wisdom. That using the £ in a currency union was the ONLY option put forward being one of then. It wasn't, it was the SNP's preferred option at the time.

He's gone on record since saying that nothing in any future White Paper will be anything which can be 'vetoed' by any other entity ( such as the Treasury/Whitehall etc ). So the likelyhood is there will be no currency union put forward in a second campaign. Scotland will probably use a currency ( name unknown but probably something unimaginative like 'the Scottish pound' ) pegged to sterling for a very short transitional period, then take it from there depending on the surrounding circumstances at the time.

But you won't be seeing or hearing it all set out step by step ( currency, central banks, army etc ) until independence campaigning is well underway again and relatively close to any vote. They'll have learned from past mistakes there.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

If I was a betting woman I'd say the Scottish £.

    Because you made the claim.
    I know.
Are you suggesting that this can be achieved without money?

My guess it's not beyond the wit of man to either adopt or set up a currency given most (all?) countries on this fine planet have managed to do so.
