There are a lot of people who may not be able to afford Brexit but it's happening.

    That fact nullifies your argument.

Well not really, Scotland would be out of both the EU and the UK so double whammy.

If you want to counter that by fantasising about a Natland full of milk and honey, well the it's and maybes are really mounting up.

Now the question - do you think the SNP Timing is such as to give Scots the information they need? You perhaps. It what about the rest?

    IMO, not a chance.

The political space late next year will be more crowded than a Heathrow departure lounge on a bank holiday.

When some political commentator appears on telly and says about the deal : "there's some bad bits, some good bits, some unknowns", then how would a plain voter interpret that?

Yes because obviously the electorate should never be allowed to change their minds...

    An annual event! Glorious.

So in the year following a Scottish Referendum, where the Yes side won, the new Scottish Parliament (which would then quite possibly have a majority of Unionists in it which would of course be a radical change) there can be another Referendum to hop back into the UK again. No need to observe previous statements about the passing of generations, follow the new Scottish tradition of having a referendum whenever one wants).

I have it on good authority (Shakey) that the SNP will splinter after a "successful" Yes vote so the above scenario seems rather feasible.

I'm the first one to note the economics of an iScotland are atrocious at the present time.

Scotland going Independent would mean very deep cuts to spending, large tax rises, a reduced standard of living over the short to medium term, and on a personal note a fairly material hit to my net wealth.

But I'll be voting for Indy this time around regardless.

    Very Interesting Hamish.
What has prompted you to change from a No to a Yes?

    Brexit....

    Thanks, makes sense.

In 2014 we were told the only way to guarantee to remain in the EU was to vote No.

In the Brexit referendum, 62% of Scots voted to remain in the EU.

Its why there is a significant and fundamental change in position from the 2014 referendum

Hamish - what is your opinion on the following:

It's pretty obvious that the SNP preference would be to hold a referendum in 2018 in October possibly. This will be before the details of Brexit are known (ratification and last minute critical issues of a deal but quite probably lacking the substance of a Trade deal. It would also be before, well before, definitive statements can be made about either the Free Trade deals (existence of lack of) that would be co j g the UK way and also before anything concrete is known about the relations between an iScotland and the EU and/or other envisaged Trade partners.

Now the question - do you think the SNP Timing is such as to give Scots the information they need? You perhaps, but what about the rest?

Your trying to squeeze in a scenario that is not true to make the answer to your liking.

Nicola Sturgeon has accepted this would be post Brexit negotiations.
It seems shes mocked by being more flexible and adjusting the date

Nicola Sturgeon MOCKED as she 'retreats' over independence referendum timing
When she first set out her timing she said between autumn 2018 and spring of 2019 before Brexit but in the motion they have just released for tomorrow’s debate in parliament she said around spring of 2019.

Why are you so insistent to try and hold to the previous potential date as discussed between TM and NS, when flexibility and clarity has been made to concide post Brexit negotiations?

I would agree, its entirely possible that parties in Scotland would adapt and focus on the best interests of the people of Scotland post independence.

It is entirely possible that the electorate may vote for the party with the manifest that they believe is the best for them and that may not be the SNP.

A lot may depend on whether the current unionist parties realign to Scotland or promote Westminster as where the governance should be.

Ultimately the electorate should determine the course given the policies that are put forward in the manifesto, but I would guess this would be longer than 1 year in the normal election process

For the foreseeable future I'll be voting tactically in the most pro-EU manner possible.
