So not really binding at all then?

    What a surprise :rotfl:

Why should it be set in stone?

I don't see why a Country should be held against it's wishes just because it suits some. But no point in asking the question if nothing has changed politically or opinion wise.

    Sorry, that's nonsense.

UK has one of the best economies in the world.

"Held against it's wishes" is a massive insult to the many people in the world who are actually living under some form of tyranny.

But speaking personally, I'm not into calling people Trolls. I think I did call someone a HateTroll once, but not on this and previous similar threads.

It was a direct response to AMSJ, who has had a repeated obsession with labelling me as a troll to which I responded that I got the message and would not feed him anymore.

I'm happy to debate and agree we should not be labelling debaters trolls, especially not on mass ;)

I'm the first one to note the economics of an iScotland are atrocious at the present time.

Scotland going Independent would mean very deep cuts to spending, large tax rises, a reduced standard of living over the short to medium term, and on a personal note a fairly material hit to my net wealth.

But I'll be voting for Indy this time around regardless.

    That's good.....

What about all the people who can't afford or cope with all of the above?

They can choose to vote as they please.

...and if the SNP get their way,

    they get to vote...
    ...and vote
    ...and vote again
    ...and vote again
    ... repeat ad infinitum

...until the "right" result is reached ;)

I have to admit, it does sound very "EU" in nature. I can understand your new found allegiance.

Yes because obviously the electorate should never be allowed to change their minds...

We can organise a whipround here, Hamish mate, if you end up down to your last couple of houses.

There are a lot of people who may not be able to afford Brexit but it's happening.

    That fact nullifies your argument.

Hamish - what is your opinion on the following:

It's pretty obvious that the SNP preference would be to hold a referendum in 2018 in October possibly. This will be before the details of Brexit are known (ratification and last minute critical issues of a deal but quite probably lacking the substance of a Trade deal. It would also be before, well before, definitive statements can be made about either the Free Trade deals (existence of lack of) that would be co j g the UK way and also before anything concrete is known about the relations between an iScotland and the EU and/or other envisaged Trade partners.

Now the question - do you think the SNP Timing is such as to give Scots the information they need? You perhaps, but what about the rest?
    Union, not Disunion

I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.
