Living out of my store cupboard & freezer, how little can I spend to feed my family?

I use potato too, so perhaps that's why the cucumbers don't make it sloppy. Never thought Of that.

Saving the feta to go with the half jar of black olives later in the week.:D I have not done a menu plan as such but know roughly how I'm going to use the "urgent" fresh stuff I can't freeze.

Tonight I'm doing HM chicken ciacatore (Italian style chicken) which l found in the freezer - though it was sausage and tomato casserole until it was defrosted......I really ought to put labels on. :rotfl:

Just been reading the thread I posted about earlier the feeding your family for £20 a week, and Butterdly, you have posted some amazing recipes. I love the veggie shepherds pie! Just roast some veggies in the oven whilst it's warming up for Yorkshire pud temps and then pile on a yorkie mix and tada, scrumptious dinner!

Butterfly you are full of amazing saving ideas, please post some recipes if you have the time.

I really fancy pizza tonight..but need to start using up the bags of pasta that i have.
So i have decided to make a pizza inspired pasta dish. Basically i'll cook some pasta up, add a tomato basil sauce (basil from the freezer) and chop some sliced pepperoni (found in the freezer..not sure if i have to cook it first or not?) and then add in a large handful of grated cheese.
    And mix all together.

In my head, it sounds and looks lovely. I hope it will be just as nice in real life :D

I used to find that labels would fall off, so now I write on the freezer bags with a permanent marker. No more `freezer surprise`!

Pepperoni doesn't need cooking but I would put a bit of oil in a cold pan, out in your chopped pepperoni fry slowly to crisp a bit and release oil then add whatever else you need to cook

Thanks happy :) I did that, and loved how it infused the tomatoes and onions with the Pepperoni flavour.

As imagined, it turned out really yummy! Even both the kids cleared their plates and declared it a huge success! Going to do that again.

It's amazing what you can make when you are trying not to spend any money!
