Very worried about my mum, I rang my parents just now to wish mum happy mother's day and she has suddenly got massive gaps in her memory. In the course of the conversation she asked my dad the same thing three times, something that she knows and has been ongoing for weeks. Then after she thanked me for the gift I sent and told me about there not being a card with it and ringing the supplier to find out who sent it, while I was talking to my dad I could hear her asking him if I had sent it, so she had forgotten receiving it and forgotten thanking me in the space of minutes. So something is very wrong as this is sudden, according to dad it started yesterday so he's going to ring the doctor's in the morning to get her an emergency appointment. As you can imagine he's really worried as well.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

Sorry to hear that, Ono. Hope it's something easily sorted like a UTI.
Has he considered phoning 101 to see if they think she should see someone today? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Thank you elsien, they rang 101 yesterday evening and are making an appointment for the doctor today, and going armed with a urine sample. I spoke to mum again this morning and went through our conversation yesterday, she also threw in that last night she was having trouble focusing with one eye, which leads to another possible conclusion, but I don't want to play amateur doctor.

Hope you get some answers today ono. My first thought was also UTI. Thinking of you x.
Am sat in car park about to go to interview....may be sick.0 -
Ono, not to be a doom monger, but a similar thing happened to my dad and it turned out to be TIAs. They put him on meds to control them, but his memory is rubbish now, although he is in his 80s. He also had really bad memory problems when he had a UTI so hopefully it's just that with your mum.
First day at new/old job today and of course, just when I need to be on time and look half decent for the photo for the intranet and the pass I need to wear at all times, I look like I live under a rock. My hair won't go right because I stupidly chose a hairstyle that looks like it requires no effort but actually requires all the effort. I didn't have time to do decent makeup so it was a quick foundation/blusher/mascara job and out the door. I look like one of those troll pencil toppers that were cool in the 90s.
Good luck for the interview tea xEu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
You sound happier, code. Good luck.
Hope the doctor's appointment gets mum sorted.
Littlewing is poorly so I am at home with her today.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
My dad's on warfarin as a consequence of what was an undiagnosed heart problem that lead clotting and thence to TIAs, and has been since before he retired. He hasn't suffered with his memory long term, so as I say, fingers crossed.
Good luck tea. Code too, hope this time around the job and the company work out better.

Ono, I hope everything's okay with your mum.
Tea, good luck for the interview.
Code, I hope you have a good first day at the old/new job and that it reassures you that you made the right decision to go back.0 -
They offered me the job!
So obviously now I'm having a massive panic about the work, the people, the parking....and thinking that maybe my current job isn't so bad :rotfl:.
Would be nice to be able to be excited without utter terror about change0 -
Huge congratulations tea
Change is scary, but compare it to staying at the old job with all the stress and very long days, and the fact of how long you have been wanting to leave.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230
