Yes, Code! They have ruined Creme Eggs!

Threaten to leave, Pyxis. Companies have a retention's department that you can only be put through to if you threaten them, they have the ability to give really good deals. This is how I got a loyalty bonus with EE, last time I said I was leaving because I could get better deals elsewhere and suddenly they rewarded me. Now they add the bonus onto every new contract.

I do the same with my Virgin Media contract, this year when I threatened to go to Sky they took £27 off my bill with a loyalty bonus. Only the retention's people can make those offers though, they guys on the front desk aren't allowed. Oh, and do make you sure are prepared to leave if you try it though, there is a tiny chance someone may say fine, go then but it's rare particularly if you have been with them for a long time. They usually try to hold onto you.

  • You don't even need to threaten to leave. We have been with Virgin Media since it was called Cable and Wireless (!)for TV and internet and when we moved last year, we arranged for our new address to be supplied. When I was doing the deal, I said I would like an extra box in the bedroom, but didn't want to pay for it. I got it, plus a loyalty bonus too :)
