Happy thoughts being sent to all the want them.
I didn't have a walk in the end yesterday evening as it started raining again, so I gave up as the weather was determined to thwart me :rotfl:Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Happy thoughts to all of those who need them, try not to slap any colleagues!!
Code - the swishy dress is beautiful. The fact that fancy dress places seem to see a size 12 as XL has always really wound me up - it's just as well I'm okay with a sewing machine otherwise there would've been a few things where I wouldn't have had a chance of getting an outfit.
Not saying that I'd let my ironing build up but I spent 5 hours working my way through it yesterday and I've still not finished. I've left it that long that some of the things in the pile don't even fit anymore...
Penguin about weight stuff I'm really annoyed with myself for how much weight I've managed to put on since holiday. I haven't quite put back everything I lost but I'm over half way there. Even though I was determined to carry on losing weight when I got back, especially seeing as we were going to the races with IzHe's friends on Saturday and I wanted to feel comfortable, I don't seem to be able to get a grip and can't stop eating rubbish. On Saturday I ended up having to wear my dress that's always a back up for when I'm too fat for anything else - and even that was close to snug - instead of one of the many, many beautiful things I could've worn if I had an ounce of self control. Seeing as I've worked out that I clearly can't manage to eat sensibly just for the sake of feeling better about myself, I've had to get IzHe to set me another weight-loss challenge. Seeing as we support rival football teams, the loser has to have Ilovespurs / Ilovewestham as their work password for a month. Getting him to type that multiple times seems to be far better motivation than getting myself back out of the obese BMI category... End penguin0 -
You know those days when you're stressed, having massive anxiety issues, not sleeping properly, hormones through the roof.... and then payroll accidentally deduct £250 from your wages for childcare vouchers.
Oh the irony.0 -
I take back what I said earlier, you should feel free to go and slap someone in payroll, they definitely deserve it!!0

Oh tea, how horrible

Work penguin about death/letting people die.
I have had a sudden spate of work which seem to involve either people who want to die or decisions having to be made about whether to carry on treating someone. It's always part of the job but just feels like one after another at the moment and it's starting to get to me. I'll be burrowed under a cushion somewhere if anyone wants me, having a bit of a cry.
End penguin. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

elsien,
ER says she is dying if she is feeling unwell and she thinks nobody is taking appropriate notice. Last week, she shouted it in A&E. I am firm with her now. I said that nobody who can bellow that loudly will be dying anytime soon*You have far too much energy to die. It was almost comical how she stopped mid-shout and said, Really?
*One can only get away with this comment if you know the patient very well and there is trust and look there. Otherwise it could be heartless.
I usually say, you will feel like you're dying because you're in pain, and worried/whatever is wrong. But when we get the infection sorted/the doctor's been/whatever the most likely thing that needs to happen happens, you will feel better.
It can also help to remind them that it is upsetting for staff to hear it. Or ask what they think is the best way for staff or other people to respond to that comment.
With ER, she never really wants to die, she just wants immediate pain or tiredness or anxiety addressed. So I have tried to guide her into being specific about her needs. Not to press the buzzer and declare that she is in agony and refuse to then specify which area of the body it is as they need to get the most appropriate medication. Also they will need to check the area first. When she is in pain, she thinks they are being awkward with all their checks but I explain that nurses have to follow procedures that safeguard all patients. She finds it quite interesting to know things that she hadn't thought of before - it can distract her from herself.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
