woooo to Lambyr! We now have a thread scriptwriter!
Mackerel and cats reminds me of one of my lovely previous cats who was allergic to it. He genuinely wasn't being fussy - sometimes I'd open a tin of catfood, sniff it, and think 'hmmm, not sure about that one'. The cat would eat it and vomit violently a few hours later if I was right, and it actually contained mackerel. (Or whatever it was that produced the allergy.) I quickly learnt not to buy fish catfood of any kind as they pad it out with whatever is cheap at the time! Poor kitty!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
One's weight per se is irrelevant. It depends how tall you are, etc. etc., but also whether the weight is due to fat or muscle.
So just posting one's maximum weight means nothing.
Would be better to post one's maximum BMI or similar.Georgiegirl256 wrote: »Just found out this morning that my cousin and his girlfriend of nearly 25 years are getting married! Never thought they'd get round to it! He was always dead against it. They just want their Mam's and siblings there and are keeping it quite from everyone else (kind of like what we did!). I can imagine that my Aunty nearly fell of her chair when she found out lol!
Thing is, they're having it up in Scotland, Fort William I think and so that's quite far for a 90 year old to travel, and she's already said if she doesn't feel up to it then she's not going....I love my Aunty, she's such a rebel and doesn't care what anyone thinks!
I'm currently trying to compose a witty text to congratulate him, but failing to think of anything right now! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Lambyr - I think we're all quite good at being able to list logical and rational reasons for why we shouldn't be feeling the way we are! If only we could get ourselves to listen :rotfl:
This may sound a bit freaky stalker-ish but I remember reading your earlier thread and just wanted to say how glad I am to hear you refer to your lovely gfAm so pleased things worked out for you both :j. I don't actually scour everyone's posting history, I promise! Just remembered your username.

Georgie..........
They always thought he never would
Because he'd said as much.
But then he thought that p'raps he should.
(Providing she goes dutch!)
So what has caused this change of heart
And sent him up the aisle?
It's 'cos he knows they'll never part
For she is just his style!
Lambyr, it's not like you're sitting on your backside claiming dole. You have a full-time job, and it's looking after your mum.
No less valid than if you were a full-time mum, or looking after a sick partner.
In the meantime, you're doing an OU degree, which will stand you in good stead for when you're back in the job market.

Haha! Thanks! Yeah, things are going well between us. It would probably be a bit easier if we didn't have to be so secretive about it at times, but she said it's taken us fifteen years or so to get where we are so no point rushing and risking anything now. Do kinda wish I'd been able to accept who and what I was fifteen years ago but so happy it's worked out now and probably for the best that it took so long.
Just sorted groceries out for tomorrow and made sure to pick up a little something for her.She would always like to say,

I know that you're right. It's hard to explain it to people sometimes but my "job" is basically a 24/7 thing. There's some degree of predictibility to it, insofar as I can sorta figure out the usual times mum will want something, or need something, but at least once a week she needs some help at night. It's quite draining at times cos I have to function on less than ideal sleep. I'm sorta conditioned to pretty much any slight noise waking me up now.
But I dunno what it is, just I want to feel like I actually "bring" something to our relationship, and I guess make her feel proud of me the way I'm proud of her cos she's accomplished so much.
The one thing I have gained from this script shortlist thing is that it's given me some confidence that maybe I'm not a half bad writer/storyteller so it could be something to explore? One of the reasons I took the OU course that I chose was because some of the modules involved creative writing and I've always been drawn to that sorta thing. I used to do really well at it in high school, so I thought if I took the course then maybe it'd get me started. I'm doing really well at it this year, and for the module have a good chance of getting a distinction so again, it's built some confidence.
I thinking I may try the BBC Writersroom drama script submission at the end of the year, or have a go at the Amazon Studios script submission process. I've been working on a fantasy novel for a while but I've not progressed at that as quickly as I would have liked, primarily because I have a bit of a fear that no one will like it and that makes it easier to not do it. Also, you can probably tell, I have a bit of a casual writing style so have to spend a lot of time working on proper grammar. That does slow me down a bit!She would always like to say,
