Glad they have a diagnosis and can now get to work putting things right. You can do this WaS, sending you hugs and strength. I’m at home most of tomorrow and I will keep checking on here. If you are struggling keep posting here and I will look out for you xx0

WaS massive hugs to you and WaSP. So glad they diagnosed it so quickly and he is having treatment.
My ex husband has Churg-Strauss Vasculitis (Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA)) He was very unlucky as a burst a blood vessel in his head and thus the stroke.
So if you ever fancying a chat just PM any time.
Do make sure that you look after self and get plenty of rest and eat and fluids. As visiting someone in hospital is hard work and even more so for you due to own health conditions and also the distance you need to travel.
To everyone else who is struggling hand shakes, squishes or hugs. Please take care of yourself.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes, Calley I pm'ed you.
After 20 phone calls (have I mentioned I hate phones?) I finally found a taxi company to take me. We live so out in the middle of nowhere that none of the local cab firms would drive as far as Cardiff. I had to get a company that is based in Cardiff to come here and pick me up. They will bring me home again after visiting time but I am dreading trying to find them in the dark in a totally unfamiliar hospital, I am going to be in a total panic by that stage. It is going to cost £50 each way so I won't be able to visit often at all, I don't have enough PIP to pay for this. I leave at 4.45, encouraging thoughts are very welcome please.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

well done for finding a taxi company xx0

WaS - perhaps ask if the driver can agree the pick up place or tell you where it is they would meet you? Or can they text you when they are there?
I agree with all the suggestions about asking the GP services or social work support or even a local voluntary service - maybe the hospital PALS team would know about hospital transport volunteers and if there is any support for people in your situation? You could ask the ward staff if someone from PALS could contact you or a hospital social worker.
I used to have a relative who after he retired drove people to hospital appointments - it was semi-rural so maybe 20 miles? There might be something that covers your area.
You have so much love and support here and the taxi driver will take very good care of you. Many of them are so caring and thoughtful.
So many best wishes and thoughts for you today and over the coming days.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Thank you both, I will ask the driver to text me when he arrives. Previously to this I have only managed to walk 50 yards down the road in the last 6 months, this is terrifying for me. I have just been sick and I am not even on my way yet. I suppose if I do fall to pieces I will be in a hospital that has a mental health unit so there are worse places I could be. After today WaSp and I might both be patients, we can be wheeled over to visit each other (sense of humour still intact at least)!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
