Well done WaS! I'm so pleased for you :j

I'm supposed to be planning a one night get away for tomorrow. I had all week to arrange it but have been putting it off because of my anxiety. I have just found somewhere that looks perfect and rang to book it but suddenly got cold feet and hung up before they answered. I will try again in a moment. :o

I hope everyone has a good day and something nice planned for their weekend :)

*edit to add I just booked it! Excited and nervous in one!

Well done WaS. I never doubted you could do it and I hope you enjoy your first shift on Wednesday.

Dandy, well done and I hope you enjoy your night away.

That's absolutely brilliant (although I would never have had faith in an organisation that didn't realse how wonderful you are :D) I do hope you'll have some interesting work with them and appreciate what a mountain you have climbed in overcoming your anxieties about working.

And well done dandy! Enjoy your weekend!

Lots of love to all xxxxxx

Hi all! How are we doing?

Just to let you know xXMessedUpXx is fine and thinking of everyone so we don't need to be worried about her. :)

I had my first shift tonight and I loved it! I wanted to carry on for longer, 4 hours isn't enough! It is much less stressful for me than the training believe it or not because I don't have such a fear of failure. I can't wait to do my next shift on Saturday. :j

Great work WaS, fab that you are enjoying it :j

Glad that MU is doing well.

I really enjoyed the weekend away. it was lovely to spend time with the kids all together, it's such a rare thing now that they have grown up!
We all climbed Glastonbury tor (I'm so unfit!) then went to our hotel and had a lovely dinner in the restaurant next door, the best dinner we've had out in years. The next day we went exploring rock pools at the beach before having a pub lunch and cream tea. The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot. I didn't want to leave, especially coming back to the London traffic and crowds after being in the beautiful countryside. I would love to live somewhere rural :o

What a lovely (almost-) start to my day, hearing about WaS-success and dandy's lovely tor visit. The tor takes me back to my childhood, as my mother's family was from Devon and we often went down to climb it! (Don't think I'd be up to it nowadays, although even writing that I'm aware it's a challenge to myself.)

And lovely to hear news of MU - thank you, WaS xxx

What a lovely weekend Dandy! I want to live somewhere rural, I might actually step out of my flat then.

I have been pondering what is happening with my mind these days. I almost have two me's now. When I am not working things are pretty much as they were, my thoughts drift and I feel as if I am almost falling back into my mind and everything feels anxious and distorted and rather psychotic really. But as soon as I begin to work everything suddenly feels clear and sharp and I am able to focus totally on what I'm doing and be totally grounded. It's like someone has flipped a switch and the intrusive thoughts and emotions stop and there is no fog anymore. Within an hour of finishing everything becomes foggy and I don't feel real again. Maybe I just need to do shifts forever?

Has anyone else had anything like this? Is it just me? I am trying to understand how I can switch from one to the other, for all I know this is normal for everyone who works. It's been so long since I had any work responsibility that I have forgotten what it feels like.

WaS I'm very different too in a different environment. When I do a course I can walk into the room and talk to people and have a coffee break together and act like everyone else. It's like I change when I walk in the door.
The rest of the time I am a neurotic wreck and avoid leaving the house which of course isn't a good thing. I can do a class for half day once or twice a week and cope around other people, but anymore and I think I wouldn't be able to cope. That said it's been 27 years since I last had a full time job so maybe I would manage? TBH I'm too scared to ever put it to the test!
